Why do so many bed manufacturers or distys not include the booster that the bed needs to get the voltage to the correct amount of what the bed requires?
Sure there are many different configurations depending on your service. But to me that is like saying the fuel injection is not included on your new car because you may use ethanol or some other fuel. It just seems like a cheap way of making the price of the bed look lower.

Voltage correction is the salon owners responsibility. The bed runs at a certain voltage and if you don't have that then it is your responsibility to make it that way, not the distributors.
So if your HP bed needs 3 tons of air the distributor should be including a unit too? Should they be installing the service so you can run it? No other appliance is sold like that and tanning beds are no different. It is up to you to provide the proper power. The beds are priced accordingly.

He just has to install all these new replacement beds, one shot, and i'm sure it's getting on his nerves.....so he probably came here to vent his frustration.
I have zero buck boosters on any of my beds....proper electrical from transformer to the beds !!! While you're at is, get a new panel and transformer installed...with proper power this time so you don't need boosters!

Individual boosters are best. Sometimes you need to tweak a certain bed up a little higher then others and being able to do all beds individually gives you more flexibility.
Also, a large transformer just chews up space. Could stuff the individual boosters in or behind each bed. Also helps distributes heat load.

OK, look at it from this perspective, if the booster did come with all beds then in some applications it would not be used and just sit in the closet. You would then complain that the booster must have cost something and would wont want it and would want a discount on the price of the bed for the highest price that you could find that booster for.
It is not cost effective to supply parts like that. It is the customers responsibility to provide the proper voltage and all other aspects of the installation such as the wire, breaker, disconnect, whip, venting, etc...

I think they should add a free salon buildout for you when you buy a bed at least.
Work your way down to a buckbooster Natureboy......always gotta start big.

nah, I don't care. The only beds I have that need a booster or transformer are my HP beds. All my other Sundash ones don't need it.
And all my HP beds came with it, so why not big VHR Beds that cost like 30K?

my newest bed had electronic balast , way lighter to move , no starters, lower cost to run, lower amp requirement , run cooler, longer lamp life no
and no booster needed ..most of the rest of the beds needed one (or two) now all I have to see is how long they last Last edited by southmike; 24th June 2009 at 01:43 AM.. |

nature, the company you bought the HP units probably just added them into the price and you were none the wiser. some companies show you everything you are paying for individualy others lump all costs into one price. IE shipping included. instead of saying, shipping will cost this much more. all washes out the same in the end.
any way, torbram or beaver electric have buck boosters 220-240 for around $600 |

I think they charged me $750 for boosters from Beaver in Vancouver shipping included, so that is fair. I needed two and they are 104 pounds each.
