Gift Cards - A Salons Best Friend - TanToday

As Fire Marshall Bill says "Lemme show you something".

Gift cards or gift certificates are a MUST for a salon. If you dont have them, you need to get them NOW.

Our salon has been selling alot of them because of Christmas. Last season we sold a bunch. Many never even get redeemed. I looked at last years December gift card sales and 1/3rd havent even been returned or used as of yet.

If you need any help getting pointed in the right direction to getting a gift certificate or gift card program in place let me know.

Our GC sales were slow until 2 two days before Christmas. We sold over $1500 on the 23rd and the 24th.

I am interested in starting gift cards instead of gift certificates. Looks like from this thread that you have some experience. What are your suggestions?

We started using the Casino Chips...With our name on them and they are also going like wild fire...We also throw them 1 for a free tan when we sell a huge package for a referal..I'll take a picture of them tonite at the salon and load it on here...they are awesome and cheap!! Not many like to give thses up either as they are so cute...LOL

Way to go ALAN...sell those sirticafits!!!

Whoever does your Point Of Sale (Interac/CC machine) can make them for you and you can swipe on your current machine. Lots of people make em though.

Works like a calling card....balance remains on the card.

I have Helios and a separate CC machine. Need a little help with this. I really like the idea of a card instead of a gift certificate.

also check out this link on people's mixed reviews of printers and problems for gift cards. People also give good references on companies they have dealt with and pricing.

I use Vanguard ID, w/barcode on the back. Nice co. to deal with! And I pay no swipe fees....everything is tracked through Salon Touch.

It is not an electronic gift card but the concept is the same and sales have increased due to the display that they come with.
