As if I didn't despise "big tanning" namely, Palm Beach enough, they are plastering the airwaves with "unlimited tanning for $14.xx a month with no commitment" (for new members)
Seriously I don't really see how they stay up and running with that big ol store, not a ton of traffic, long long hours, and many employees (who are bottom of the barrel even for tanning salons- I stopped in once and after about 7 minutes of no one arriving up front even after ringing the bell I just walked out) |

Don't worry about what others are doing, good to know, but don't put any stock in it. Put your energy into your own marketing. They will take care of their own demise.

Here is the coupon from thier site:
Tan All Month for $14.95 30 Days Silver Level UV Tanning Expires April 30, 2006 See store for complete details. New Members, one time only. ![]() Doesn't say anything about a contract or not. But on the radio ad it says "no commitment". Oh, I have no doubt about Palm Beach eventually failing, around here anyway. Plus they have to carry crappy lotions that I know they don't get the margins on that we do, and I wouldn't want to have to kick back those franchise and advertising fees. It's just that the franchises on thier way down bring the whole market down with them. |

I think their offer is based in the psychology that "it takes 21 days to form or break a buying habit". They're trying to make a habit of their salon for new customers and since they're are saying "one time only", after they form a habit, it seems they raise their prices. I have no clue if this psychology stuff works, just read about it some marketing I get.
Good Luck. Tom |

My area is still giving free week all equipment for new clients until April 30th. Different markets, different promos.
How long does it take PBT to turn any profit? I would think with overhead and rent (since they are in AA real estate) it would be at least double the conventional salon. Thoughts? |
