Default Theater advertisement

I bit the bullet today and decided to advertise on the local screens at the theater. Signed a 1 year term with another year option. On average there will be 2 viewings before every movie. This theather has 8 screens and is busy enough to see a good ROI I hope. $168.00 a week

Tried that a few years back. The theater management was so embarassed by the lack of response that they actually refunded my money.

That's my assitant's payroll. 1 month is a relamping, maybe 2. 3 months could be a used bed. 6 months, a massive mailing, 1 year, used HP!

Not to mention, at least where I am, movies get teenaged blk kids... not my target market...

Can't you do a good sized ad in the Sunday edition for that? I'd think newspapers would have a better ROI than movies...

suze, not around here, news paper prints are over $100 for a small print. My area sucks for ads. I'm in an area that if I pick paper X, it will only cover x amount of houses, paper y will cover a differnt set. The clipper costs me about as much as this and I don't see any great return on it either. I frequently visit this theater so I'm confident.

I figure nothing else has worked, might as well just put it all into this, one of my competitors is in the parking lot of the theather too

I tried it and it didnt work for me either.

Best for me are:

1) Radio
2) Billboard
3) Referrals
4) Student Print adds
5) Drive by traffic

Mail outs suck here!

The sales rep was like well how do you know it won't work. I said it doesn't matter, I don't have 9 grand for you. I can find better things to do with 9 grand.

My sister&law did this for her Dairy Queen with poor results

Good call Mike. I've never heard of anyone who did well with this advertising. I think once people watch the movie they totally forget any ad they might have seen.

You have to watch out for any advertiser that contacts you out of the blue. 8 out of 10 times they are a scam. They do the hotel thing here, $X amount to get into the directory blah, blah...

I know so many businesses that have been taken by that one.

If you don't seek THEM out, don't sign anything. Same goes for phone service reps.
