If Kaiser ever pulled a stunt like that, I would would fire them as my health care provider.

The ITA should get on top of this.

Assuming she's type 2 skin (?).... sun is about 3-4 CIE MED/hr - say 3.5 this time of year. She had NO tan (based on sunglasses lines)... so she got 3.5 MEDs x 3.2 hours = 11.2 MEDs initial session time. That's about 17 FDA MEDs!!!!!!!

SO - what's the point? Even a spring break fool would know better than that!

Initial tanning session is 0.75 MED building up to 4 MEDs after several weeks. NO burn. Just a good base tan.

The people who sponsored this damn ad need to go to jail. Where's the FTC when they are needed to crack down on misleading or false advertising???

Are you suggesting that they do not give prompt attention to their clients?

The irony is that they actually have Vitamin D info / links on their website

Their poster girl probably got about 100000 IU.

Just kidding.... after about 1.5 MEDs the body quits making vitamin D and converts 7-DHC to inert by-products. She now has about 80000 IU of inert stuff... and a sunburn that takes 12-24 hours to appear: NOT 3 hours.

Steve and Sparky, I hope you don't mind, I plagiarised your posts for a complaint directed to ClearChannel Outdoor (I spend between 40k and 50k per year with them).

(Complaint follws)

>>>I am appalled that Clear Channel Outdoor would participate in an ad that is so visually slanderous to an industry that includes many Clear Channel advertisers.

Assuming the model in the ad has type 2 skin (very fair).... the sun is about 3-4 CIE MED/hr - this time of year. She had NO tan (based on sunglasses lines)... so she received 3.5 MEDs x 3.2 hours = 11.2 MEDs initial session time. That's about 17 FDA MEDs.

Do suntan centers put first time clients in for 1 to 2 hours on the first visit? Is there evidence of this kind of negligence?

In my industry, the initial tanning session is 0.75 MED building up to 4 MEDs after a series of sessions.

I consider this billboard false and misleading and very damaging to my industry.

I have considered Clear Channel a valued partner in my advertising efforts. I am unable to fully express my disappointment after seeing this bulletin board.

I would think they care about the 40 - 50K though.
