For those of you that pay someone to hand out flyers for your salon...
1. How and what do you pay? Flat fee? Commission based on flyer success? 2. If you pay a flat fee, how do you know they actually handed out the flyers and didn't just throw them in the trash? |

We are really close to a big mall so last time I did flyers I had two high school students hand out 500 flyers each. I had them put their names on the back of the flyer and gave them $1.00 for every flyer that came back into the salon. It worked out really well because instead of just throwing them away, they were competing with each other and actually trying to get people to come into the salon so thay could make some money.

i've dealt with many people that wanted to keep their costs down and went with people to hand deliver them for them. They went with big companies, reputable corporations. The only problem is that that people working for the company are the ones that do the deliveries, usually kids or people that really don't care. So some get delivered and most get tossed. No real way of tracking deliveries or guarantees or audits that can be done to assure delivery.
Yes you pay more with Canada Post or USPS, but it's work every penny to get your marketing in their hands. Postage ranges on size of the marketing you are doing, but on average a postcard will run you approx 24cents with USPS for postage alone. Canada Post is approx 44cents for addressed admail and 11.7cents for unaddressed. These postage rates are based on volume and being processed with indicia if you have your own and you process and package your own mailouts or through someone like Me (marketing company). if you do it yourself, you'll be paying for first class stamp. USPS approx 42cents and Canada Post 52 cents. Also, with the post office, your mailout gets delivered on it's own, not in a bulk envelope with other people's coupons that will get tossed in the trash as junk mail. Hope this helps.

dbl-a, we ask that people contacting us for a mailout, do so about at least 30 days before a date specific event. It takes time to design and approve the project before we print them and address them and send them off for delivery. Obviously, leaving more time would be the smartest thing to do as we will submit it in a timely manner if it's too early to mail them out.
Kagha, if you are looking for ideas of what to offer, this forum is full of them. Or you can contact me directly if you want to get going. info@chronosmarketing.com Keep in mind, 30 days from now you should be rolling out your Valentines promotions, excellent time to hit them with direct mail!!!
