I give out prices over the phone as well as tell them that they can get a free visit by going to .::Iwantafreetan.com::. and bring in the certificate and get a free tan, free package of lotion and free winkease or viewkeepers. I also let them know that we supply towels, deodorant, paper towels, tissues and facial cloths for their convenience. If they are tanning on their lunch hour or before work, they really love those extra amenities.

You send them to a website to get a coupon for free tanning that cost you money?
I HATE how the entire tanning industry is backing this NONSENSE search engine! Do you people turn on your brains before backing things that make ZERO sense or is it more like WHAT? I CAN MAKE 2 CENTS DOING NOTHING?!?!? SIGN ME UP! Disappointing to the MILLIONTH DEGREE with that crap.

6 seconds of stoner though process went into this idea. Here's the trick, you write down your stoner ideas THEN when the smoke clears make sure it actually makes sense.
Step 2 was clearly not taken in this case.

I'm not a stoner and I have been trying this out for the past month and everyone that calls, I ask their name so that when they do come in, I remember talking to them. Everyone that I have given the website out to has come in to tan and have bought additional visits and packages along with lotion and other products. It does work!!

Here's an idea. Put a coupon on YOUR website and drive traffic to your own website where they can read more about your beds, your salon your services and print a coupon for a free tan.
![]() Otherwise, you just sent them to another website that will show your competition, they'll say cool...i get a free tan at your salon and the one down the street and the one 4 blocks over and the one in the next town 10min away....i just tanned up for my vacation and it didn't cost me anything. Thanks for the link. Then next time, they'll come in and use a different name and do the same thing all over again. Or you can maintain your own coupons and change them as you see fit on your own website....and promote your own company and not someone elses.

I try to avoid prices if they are new, I always tell them that we have 4 levels of tanning, so why don't they come in and we will give them a free tour. what I have no one else has, the best salon in the area!!!!! unless they have already been here, I tell them what it starts at.

The salon down the street doesnt give prices over the phone so we do. I have nothing to hide! Also you have to let the potential customer know how great your salon is and why they should choose you! Customer service is KEY!

so, by directing them to your website to get a free tan coupon gets them there...then they can look over all you have to offer...print out the free tan coupon...and come in. hmmmm, makes sense to me. we drive our clients to our website for info and a look at our salon...let them know theres some internet specials on it...which may kinda do the same...gets them to the website...and hopefully back in to our salon....but offering the free tan? hmmm, something to think about....give them a base bed? to getthem in for sure....then tour them...and possibly bypass the free tan...and get them into upgrades...hmmm...worth thinking more about.

I don't see what the big deal is on giving prices. Most salons won't do it on their site, nor over the phone, i don't get it. Getting a call is the best, when you get a call from any customer, it means you have a shot at making a sale and that is all I look for all day. Never say no to a client, if they want price, they get price.....if they want directions, they get it....at the end, with out them, I can't even have a phone, there will always be people calling around wasting people's time, but you never know.

That is AWESOME! I will totally do that from now on. I notice the same phone number calls every month asking for my specials.. guess my competitors like to match my prices! ;-)

When they come in and ask for the lotion discount say it is for real customer only and not those calling from "X" salon. I have them coming in with their salon t-shirts on clearly visible. I wish they would just focus on their customers and doing what they find works for them. |

If it is a potential customer we explain our prices start at X for unlimited tanning, but they may not need that. We tell them we have a coupon on our website with some awesome deals including a free tan, mention it (save your ink and paper) and we will find the best program for them. We want to meet their tanning needs with out breaking the bank. This works out well and we are not spending long periods of time on the phone. It does not work 100% of the time. There are people who insist and we are open and honest.

My typical price shopping phone call goes like this.
Ring- Hello Electric Sunshine may i help you? Me Customer-yeah, how much is your unlimited month? ME: Us- Well we have 4 pieces of equipment you can use for $60 a month which works out to about 3$ a tan but there are... Customer. Ok, thanks, "click". If your not the cheapest, that's how they go. So, Now why should I tell them prices on the phone? |
