We'll give prices over the phone, send them a price sheet to their email or send them to our website for prices.

They usually ask about packages for me. I ask what kind followed by, in quick order, unlimited?, sessions?, membership?, level 1?, 2?, 3?, or 4? Then say, "I have a waiting room with new people and can't go into detail. Would you like to come in and grab a price sheet or have a tour?????"

I try not to give prices due to people just looking for the cheapest tan without knowing the difference in beds. I always want to get them in our door so they can see our salon first. I usually tell them "If you have never been in our salon, the best thing would be for you to stop by and let me give you a tour and explain the different levels and prices so that you can decide what would be best for you." If they press I tell them "Our monthly unlimeted packages start at $24.99". That is our level 1 EFT rate, but I don't offer that info up.

The more conversation you make with them may be the deciding factor on if they decide to try out your salon. Be friendly and open with them.
Usually you can tell if someone is fishing for info- they know more than the average client. If I am suspicious of this, I am still friendly just not as giving with information. I play stupid in these circumstances. |

We let the customers know that our pkgs start at $29.95 and go up depending upon what unit they would like to tan in. We also tell them to come in and see our facility we would then go over the rest of the prices, depending on which bed they choose to tan. If they know they want say the level 1 then I will give them the price and still tell them to come in and see our salon, because every salon is different. We also let the customers know how often we change our lamps. Some salons might charge a lower rate, but, guess what you pay for what you get.

Find your cheapest bed on the biggest package and quote that price.
Prices are as low as $5.00. It all depends on what bed you are doing what package you are on. Best thing i'd recommend is to come in and i'll be happy to go through it with you. I can't recommend anything over the phone as i have to see you to see your skin type and recommend something based on what you are trying to achieve and in what timeframe. But yes....if they call and ask how much a high pressure tan is....i say $35 !!! FAKEM.

When people call I like to ask them if they have ever been in the salon? If the answer is no I will tell them... "We have five diff levels of tanning including the spray tan. We do offer our first time, new customers a FW. So, you should come in so we can give you a tour of the salon and we can go over your package options." That generally will get them in the door and upgrade the FW or sell them a long term package. If the person has been in the salon, we will ask what level they tan in and just give info on that one...If it is a spy trying to see what we are doing, I will ask them what kind of bed they are interested in and then offer them a FREE tan in that level then ask for their name so I can out it in the computer. Duh, ddduh, duh!!! No I did't call from a private number and try to ask specific questions... LMAO!!
I love doing that cause it will get them off of the phoneHey You! |

I can't imagine withholding prices over the phone. You can bet that your competition is providing them. I doubt that you will gain anything whatsoever by being percieved as unfriendly or uncooperative. good luck

I never give out pricing on the phone. I tell people you have to come in and see our salon. If you in front of me I have a chance to sell you and show you our beds. Most people ask how much for your "base bed". My "base bed" is a Tanses TX-44 my comp has an old 28 lamp I don;t even know who makes it. So how can you compare the two without seeing them?

If someone calls asking any questions at all, you need to sell them over the phone. To simply say to come in is stupid. They called because they're interested but don't want to come in and waste their time. Tell and sell them as much as possible!

I have actually had local competition call me twice (clearly visible on caller ID) and ask if I am running any specials that month. You would think they would be smart enough to use a cellphone or have a friend call.

we don't quote prices over phone.
we run our business based on our committment to our clients and our ability to standout from the competition on results, cleanliness, knowledge and customer service - not price. if you are calling me about price, you are price shopping. while no one, including me, is in the position to turn business away... i still prefer to have clients who appreciate my salons based on the above attributes and will remain loyal, not those that will go to the salon down the street at the drop of the dime to take advantage of some random special they are running. |

Very well put imhere, couldn't agree more.
Now, how do you all get the newbie in the salon to show them your commitment to your clients, results, cleanliness, knowledge and customer service? Would offering the first timers a 50% discount on their 1st session do the trick? Maybe a 1st tan free? How about a 1 week free 50% off tanning membership (co-pay)??? |
