I have been working with George from Prosun for a couple of months on getting an ASR "All skin rejuvenation" bed to put in our video store/tanning salon. I have 4 tanning beds and will add this to the mix and see how it does.
The real reason I bought it is that my wife wanted one for herself so I figured I'd buy a commercial unit and see if it could help pay for itself a little ? Everybody in the area seems very excited about some of the things the bed "may" do for your skin and I have been showing off the flyers for a few weeks and the bed will be here on thursday finally. The model I bought isn't on there website as I will be the first one to buy an Onyx ASR bed. It offers NO tanning and has 1 LED facial panel and all red light bulbs for the body. We are going to sell this in packages only with no single sessions available. 6 sessions---$57.95 + tax 12 sessions--$99.95 + tax 18 sessions--$129.95 + tax This is definitely not an item where you can see results from 1 visit so we thought it best to sell the packages only. This may sound cheap but we are in rural appalachia and were not sure how to price the bed ? I priced it very equal to my standup bed that I use for a level 3 bed. Thoughts ? Opinions ? Ideas on how to sell it ? Other peoples experiences ?

I will do that. The reason I went with the Onyx was because the X3 ASR was in the $10k range and the Jade is just the home unit that has no facial LED panel so I wanted one with the LED panel and the price in between.

I just bought the store 2 months ago and did a complete remodel so that has brought some people back to rent that had stopped renting in the past few years. I really can't judge yet but it is fair. I'm breaking even and the tanning beds aren't running as the state has to inspect me in the next 2 weeks.

I think you're charging WAY TOO LITTLE for this "service". Keep in mind that people are paying big money for anything that will reduce fine lines and crow's feet. I think you should charge at least 3-4 times more than what you listed in your post. This isn't a cheap tan, this is a skin-rejuvenating machine and people will pay for it. Set your bar higher on prices, you can always negotiate better deals on the spot! I also look forward to hearing how these units perform. Good luck!

I think I should have priced it higher than what I did but I have already handed out tons of flyers and have a posterboard with the pricing on it so I'm not sure I can change it at this point without looking bad ?
DIN: I understand what you are saying about the "video store" thing but you have to know that in my area mine will be the only tanning salon within 7 miles and the 2 others that are 7 and 10 miles away offer only 2 different beds (both 100watts only), no stand ups and one is a terribly dirty place that I would never ste in. I have a brand new build out with bright colors and good decorations and offer 4 different tanning beds plus this skin rejuvenation bed as well. I do think I undershot on the pricing but how would I change it now ? I never really figured to make a ton on the skin rejuv bed as my wife wanted it for herself and whatever it made was just extra but the more the better of course!

You will need about 10 mins to start, then it takes about 6 weeks or 20 sessions to see real results. I would sell a 20 pack & promote relaxation with this.

Did you see that I was selling it in packages of 6,12, and 18 sessions ? They are all 15 minutes long per session. So do you have this in your salon ?

I don't have a salon. I have been testing these type of lamps for the past year in a few different applications. We even have a 160W Reflector in a 48 lamp Suncapsule.

This is actually a good time to raise the pricing. The flyers and the posterboards are your INTRO OFFER. Limited time only. Post it in your store that these prices are in effect until End of September and that normal pricing will take effect then. It's just an "Under new management" special offer. This should also help increase initial sales and get the word out to rush in before the price changes. Creates a sense of urgency and they know prices will go up to regular price for everything. Then just raise the prices to whatever you wanted to.

SO I could do like:
6 sessions $69.95 12 " $119.95 18 " $149.95 That would pick me up some extra $$$. Not a ton but every little bit helps. Have you guys heard of any special lotion or gel that should be used with this kind of bed that enhances the effect ? Maybe something I could sell with the visits ? Neal

didn't you people listen to John. He is in the LAMP BUSINESS and he just said it take 20 visits to get results...so if they use 6 visits they won't see xxx and they won't buy more!
Pay attention. Sell the results not the sessions. TELL THEM...2 or 3 relaxing visits per week for just 8 weeks and you will see a difference. I'm sure there is a product for use with this and if there isn't , buy Lumiers stuff..it does more than the light does for the skin. and sell that too. If it doesn't show results in the first package..they won't ever come back!!!! Last edited by swhitley; 15th July 2009 at 01:32 PM.. Reason: Violation of Site Rules |
