Did you make arrangements to get in and view the reports? And does he even have the passwords? You'll need the one that can access all reports. My employees can't access it. So you'll need whoever's password, that is set up for those permissions.

And don't forget to see about spending some time in there. You'll need some of those girls to give you all the scoop.

Don't forget to get the prices and packages. And find out how much a/c is there.

oh queeny, yes i agree with ya about this salon, there needs to be more investigating done thats for sure, almost sounds like some money laundering going on in there.

I know that if ya have the right knowlege, those numbers don't meen squat cause it can be the result of poor managment and owner know how about the business. Whats most important is does the demographics support this salon, is the equipment decent, and can the hydro/ac get sorted out to run a succesful salon. Only the demographics will show if this salon can be profitable. a total overhall on this salon needs to be done, including a profitable pricing structure.

I think that if his pants are on fire, he will have a better chance to make it. So lets look at the positive side and encourage him in a positive direction instead of trying to stomp out his fire. There are some real weird things going on with this place, and i would enter this place with caution, but perhaps if ya pants are on fire, have a look around at other salon options also, perhapts a closed down location with buildout already done, or buying one with a less shady outlook. I would encourage ya to look at demoghraphics that the city posts, and post it here so we can all help ya.

queeny, the tone ya used sounded a bit harsh, albeit all great advice, but my "pants on fire" reaction to ya tone would have been to become more determined to make it work, and less likey to listen to the advice, or miss the advice because now i'm all fired up to prove i can do it.

I can tell ya there are too many salons in that population already. that is one I'd walk from. only 10% of the population tans I think thats what it is. im struggling with 4 salons in 69,000 population with a much higher medium income and better age demographics, and im head to head with one other salon being the most popular salon. the one at the bottom is on the verge of closing up.

Just wanted to add that there is a difference between being negative and being truthful. Sometimes the truth sounds negative but it will save you in the end. As Queen said, we did fine and are still in business after 15 years but if this board would have been around then it would have saved us a lot of mistakes and a lot of money.

Thank you for finally providing ACTUAL stats like I had asked for several days ago. Nemisis is right. It is over saturated. There is a reason why those two other owners failed in such a short time. You dont have the population to really make any money.

Unless I am wrong and those are the stats for the 3 mile and 5 mile radius? How close are all of those salons to where you want to be? how large are they and how long have they been in business?

those are the salons in the entire city including the one i want to purchase... NOT within a 5 mile radius, i'm confused you want me to pay a researcher to do a 5 mile radius survey??.. lol

so a population of 60,000 people and only 5 other salons.

also i have the number and bed types its a big file so be prepared.

Here is what I was told by the landlord, he said he came across this paperwork while digging through the previous owners old files. I had asked him for a inventory report and he seemed surprised to find this. Supposedly it is 1-2 years old. Also regarding temperature he claims the salon keeps a constant temperature between 75-80 degrees. I dont thats desireable but neither is it it horrendous in my UNexperienced opinion. He also said the AC on the roof is plenty big enough to handle an expansion...for whatever thats worth.
