Yonkers man accused of stealing money from tanning salon

THE JOURNAL NEWS

(Original publication: June 14, 2007)
YONKERS - A city man was accused of stealing money from a tip jar in a tanning salon, police said.

Brian Saltares, of 50 Beaumont Circle, walked into Sun Station Tanning Salon on Crisfield Street on Saturday and stole the money, police allege.

A surveillance camera recorded the thief as he took $250 from the jar and broke the bottle on the floor, police Lt. Richard Ruyack of the First Precinct said.

Police officers Stephen Gratzon and Neal Cromwell developed information that Saltares was responsible for the theft, Ruyack said. The officers were looking for Saltares on Tuesday night and found him walking out of Dunkin' Donuts in the Tanglewood Shopping Center on Central Park Avenue.

He ran, police said, but was arrested quickly on Roxbury Drive after a search by numerous officers.

He was charged with petty larceny, fourth-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors.

$250 in tip money? Have they been saving tip money for the last 10 years?

Who gets tips regularly?

Reasoning: You make more money

Is there any other reason you are looking for?

Reasoning like what are they tipped for?? Are they making 2.35/hr like a waitress? I still can't believe that Dunkin Dounts counter has a tip jar.

Airport baggage carrying people don't get paid minimum wage.....but hey, guess what there too....

Why are we tipping waitresses anyway? Cuz they brought me the food that the chef cooked for me? Isn't that their job?

Okay so if we clean the bed before and after their session, educate them tanning, lotions etc....isn't that our job too? Are we not in the SERVICE industry too?

What's the diff? Either start tipping your tanning salon attendant or stop tipping waiters/tresses

You tip your hairdresser......why? Cuz she did her job, which you are paying for anyhow right.....so pay more on top? For what...a service? What are we providing....?
