Chatham man arrested for filming tanner

DANVILLE -- The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an individual for filming a female without her knowledge as she used a tanning bed at a local Chatham business.

According to Pittsylvania County deputy Maj. Gary Goodson, the Sheriff’s Office discovered on Saturday that Richard Allen Vaughan had filmed a female while she was tanning at a Chatham tanning business.

Vaughan worked next door to the tanning business at a heating and air conditioning business.

Since the two businesses were connected, Vaughan was able to remove a heating duct inside the tanning room and filmed the female getting in and out of the bed.

Vaughan, 32, of Spruce Hill Road in Chatham has been charged with one count of unlawful filming of another and one count of peering into an occupied structure. He has been released under a $ 5,000 bond.

The case is still under investigation.
