| More regulation sought for indoor tanning industry Posted 3 hours 13 minutes ago A Gold Coast lawyer says the indoor tanning industry needs more regulation. Bruce Simmons is representing four women who say they have suffered skin damage from solariums. The Queensland Institute of Medical Research estimates that up to 62 new cases of melanoma diagnosed in Australia each year can be attributed to solarium use. Mr Simmons says more needs to be done to protect sun bed users. "The use of sun tanning beds in Queensland and throughout Australia has not been regulated sufficiently. What goes on we don't know," he said. "A lot of the tanning salons and sun bed operators have been run by fly-by-night operators." Source
