I'm not sure why interesting, or funny, but one of the board members lives there (Salon Sector rep. Rob Quinn) and offered to help host it.

I'll be there - interested to hear the country-wide updates re. the Berman campaign as well as latest legislative battles.

If I remember right, Ohio has the most tanning salons in the country (plus is fairly centrally located) so they were probably hoping that would increase turnout.

Unfortunately, the big draw in this industry seems to be slot machines, and not politics, so they'll probably pull about 50 people to the meeting.

Tony G is correct - they are trying to keep the locations "moving" in order to make attendance easier for non-board members who want to participate. Last one was Florida and there were a few local salon owners who came.

Ohio is indeed still home to the most saturated tanning salon concentration I believe. My competitors never shut down, they just keep switching hands from one owner to the next!

I don't understand why it's funny either? I'm going to try to go to this one...just a couple hour drive for me.

Ohio also was the first state to implement tanning rules. The state also requires salon operators to recertify every four years. I urge salon owners to take a proactive approach and become active in all states. Hopefully, this meeting will have a large turnout. Remember, if you want to help steer the direction of the industry then you have to get onboard.

Sandusky, Ohio is home to Cedar Point Amusement Park. The best collection of roller coasters in one place on the planet. Mellinium Force ROCKS! IMHO, loads more fun than losing money on craps/slots/poker.

I don`t know how crap/slot/poker got brought into this post? Are you saying I love to go to LV? Yes I do. One of the best trade shows ever. Ooops besides Chicago. The ITA can have their summer board meeting anywhere they want to. I think it is great if you are able to go. I guess you could have it anywhere and others would have an opinion. Maybe this will be the biggest turn out ever for a open ITA board meeting.

Get involved and send in your money. I have been a member of the ITA for years. I also pay pac.

I stopped going to amusement parks years ago. Sorry.

LOL - I don't think anybody was trying to "dig" on anybody - it's like we're all having separate conversations!

Not that is probably matters to most, but I think the mention of "Cedar Point" was for those salon owners who MIGHT think about attending who would consider trying to turn this "business trip" into a "family vacation" (e.g. enjoy the write-off!), a major amusement park is right there, and it is right after school lets out for the summer. Also that area has a major Seaworld, Waterparks, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Indians baseball games, etc.

Bet most of you didn't know all those fun facts about Cleveland!

I know a lot of people get bored of Nashville ("been there, done that") and while this is a MUCH different meeting than Nashville (!!), for those that like to be involved, and are curious, but don't want to spend their money for "just" business, a little incentive to plan a family vacation and drop in and hear the latest from the ITA at the same time.

Also - for you single salon owners, Sandusky is also proximate to Put-In-Bay on Lake Erie, home of a WELL KNOWN local island area where "what happens in PIB, stays in PIB" type party atmosphere - think Mardi Gras, the Keys, Vegas rolled into one!

For those that will come, look forward to seeing you there (the ITA meeting, not PIB! )

Frankie, craps/slots/poker was an extension on Tony G's post. Now quit whining about Vegas.

SunSally, sorry, but I only post to make "digs" at Frankie and every post I make is directed at her.

The reality is (as SunSally correctly surmised)that I just wanted to share a little "tidbit" on Sandusky. Didn't mean to wad up anyone's panties.
