Which was not.
Yep that's pics of my tray with the blown cap. Thanks to Brian for doing a quick repair last year and getting us up and running quickly.

Oh, and the last picture is what happens when a hydraulic line busts and squirts hydraulic fluid on a diesel engines turbocharger on a brand new $250K piece of farm equipment(courtesy of my dad, thank god they had insurance...lol)

When salon owners try to fix their own beds.

Brian, I thought you can no longer purchase "new" halon fire extinguishers due to the EPA laws now in affect?

I don't know what "hand held" fire extinguisher to use now if halon is outlawed.

I had a small fire in a bed that started on a (F71) lampholder that quickly went out when the bed was turned off. An employee was tanning at the time. No fire dept or media.

I went there yesterday. This is one of my Tiki tan license stores that I sell. The part that caught on fire was the main disconnect in the top part of the cabinet, that part is manufactured by ABB. It melted one of the sieman contactors next to it. It didn't touch the main board, or any of the ballast or the capacitor's. The main disconnect wires were all still tight. They are looking into it, as of now no clue. Not sure why they sprayed the whole unit down, that stuff is everywhere.

OK so I had a look at this thread and thought OMG how bad is that.. well then today had a shop full of people andhad people tanning and could smell something really funky. Ran around the salon turning everything off unpluging everything. called 2 electricians they turned up and thought I was nuts as they couldn't work out what it was tried to blame my nail stuff. Called my hubby in he agreed it was electric.. thought great one of my beds have crapped itself ( especially after reading this ) called in electrcity dept. they were at salon within 30 mins ( I was frantic and almost crying ) Main fuse on switch board burnt out.. took them 10 minutes to fix.. Freaked me out especially after looking at these pics...

yes, just started the patenting process. Introducing a retrofitting halon fire extinquisher bag for all tanning units, it will be rated at a precise temperature. The next best thing since air bags. In the works, so be patient. You will be able to add this device to most tanning units.

Hmm, last I knew the each state requires certain extinguishers to be in stores. Indiana code like other states require ABC extinguishers not BC in order to get their COO to do business. Hind sight is so foolish when we are not there at the moment. Good news is free publicity and heard the store was open that night tanning people. Cause they have the hottest beds in town. I am jealous

If fried my Suncap trying to change out a capacitor with the power on - DUH! Turned the breaker off and it stopped. Guy rewired it and had it up and running in about an hour. Good to go!

I had a washing machine motor burn up once. It filled the salon with smoke. Fireman said it happens often.
