Default Welcome to TanToday!

Welcome to TanToday! This forum is a place for indoor tanning industry professionals to gather, help each other out, and share ideas and information. This is YOUR community and we encourage lively interaction, but we do need some rules to keep things organized and civil. Most of this is common sense and we’ve tried to keep them short, but please take a moment to review “da rules."

1. Report Abuse
Every post has an icon you can click to report abuse. We can’t (and don’t want to) monitor every discussion on TanToday. If you see something that violates the site rules or the spirit of this site, please don’t hesitate to click the icon and report it to us. You will remain completely anonymous to the general community (only moderators and administrators are able to see who reported a post) and your fellow members will appreciate it!

2. Industry Professionals Only
Are you an indoor tanning consumer? Sorry, but TanToday is not the place for you. Consumer-oriented posts will be removed. This site is for indoor tanning professionals only: managers, operators, owners, investors, manufacturers, distributors and suppliers.

3. Keep the Discussions Civil
We’re all passionate about indoor tanning—none of us are prudes—and we all like a lively and impassioned debate, but sometimes our passion can cross the line. Remember that we’re here to help each other, not attack each other or show how crude we can be. If you do forget, however, we’ll remind you by politely editing or removing your post. Things that will get your post edited or removed include:
• Swearing or foul language
• Insulting or personally attacking someone else
• Racial, religious, sexual or otherwise crude remarks and references
• Unfounded allegations or rumors about a person or a company
• Pornographic links or images (grounds for immediate banning)

4. Talking About Manufacturers and Suppliers
It’s simple … keep your criticism constructive. We all want manufacturers and suppliers to participate on TanToday and be part of the community. We want to talk to them and we want them to help us grow our businesses. We all have our preferred companies and products, and it’s OK to relate positive or negative feelings/experiences about a company or product—but it’s not OK to flat-out attack a company or rudely disparage them. Such posts will be edited or deleted. Keep the criticism honest but constructive, and the manufacturers will be much more responsive and willing to respond to you.

5. Advertise Only in the Approved Places
Manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, other Web sites … this one’s for you! We encourage you to participate in the forums, but posting ads or blatantly promoting products, services or other Web sites within the forum discussions is not permitted. Posts like this will be deleted. If you would like to purchase designated advertising space on this Web site, please contact Karen Butler at kbutler@vpico.com.

6. No Unsolicited Messages
Site members may not contact other members or sponsors publically on the forum or via private message in connection with any exploitive or unsolicited message (commercial or otherwise). This includes, but is not limited to, surveys, contests, pyramid schemes, chain letters, junk e-mail and spam.

7. Signatures
Feel free to include your company/salon name, your title, and your web site URL in your signature. However, banner ads or text promoting your company, product or service within your signature, as well as phone numbers and e-mail addresses, are not allowed and will be removed.

8. Avatars
Members are allowed to upload their own avatars (the graphic that appears beside your name when you post). Have fun with these but sexually-oriented or otherwise offensive avatars are not allowed. You can use your company logo as your avatar.

9. Multiple Registrations
Please do not register multiple times. If you encounter a technical difficulty with your original registration, please contact our site administrator for assistance before proceeding with new registration.

10. False Identities
Users may not create a false identity on the site claiming to be someone else. Anyone found to have created a false identity will be banned from the site.

11. Moving Posts
Choose the appropriate forum category for your post and put it in that category. If a post is placed in the wrong forum, it may be moved to the proper forum without notice. Sometimes long discussion threads may also get off-topic from the original discussion. These posts may also be moved if deemed necessary.

12. Multiple Posting
Do not post the same question or comment in more than one forum topic. Multiple posts will be deleted.

13. Bumping
If your post has not received any new replies, it will slide down the list. That’s just how a forum works. Do not post a reply yourself just to bump the thread up the list unless you have something valuable to add.

14. Moderators and Administrators
Our moderators and administrators do their best to help manage the community, keep discussions on topic, answer questions, and keep the site free of unwanted material and cantankerous participants. They edit or remove a post only if they have to, but their decision is final, and an explanation or notification is not required. Moderators and administrators may also send you a private message requesting a change in your behavior on the forum. Please cooperate. If you argue or become unpleasant publically or privately, you will lose your posting privileges.

15. Member Banning
Some cases like false identity, pornography or blatant spam warrant immediate banning of a member. In most other circumstances, the moderators and administrators will edit/delete the post in question and may issue a warning to the member. Banning is used only as a last resort—but if a member continues to violate the rules and ignore warnings, they will be banned at the sole discretion of the moderators and administrators. Banned members who attempt to re-register will be banned again immediately.

16. Everything Else
There are always circumstances that are unforeseen and that cannot be covered in “Da Rules.” In these situations, the final call on how to handle the situation is up to the moderators and administrators.
