Exclamation Why I Hate Stupid Employees

Get ready for a good laugh, even though I am extremely stressed out atm I have to find humor in this story to help get me through this.

This past Sunday I entered my salon unannounced and found:

My weekend Employee who has been with me for oh... about 6 weeks now, decided she wanted to drastically change her appearence. She is now a goth chick with black hair and black fingurenails!

She was whereing her PJs top, Sweats, baseball hat, and fuzzy slippers! I swear I am not making this up! When I asked her what was up with her atire today and if she felt at all profesional dressed that way her responce was:

" I was up all night, we went to a party and I couldn't get any sleep afterwards"

*smacks forhead* are people really this freakin stupid? #1 this was SUnday... we don't even open till NOON! and #2 this was the Sunday we went back an hour for daylight savings time so she had an EXTRA hour to get hersef prepaired for work!

THAT IS NOT ALL!

ok so after we close and she leaves I am in my office and I get onto my PC and find over a dozen pop ups in less than 2 minutes on my browser! OMG there is a toolbar ad-on on my internet explorer! where the hell did that come from!

So I go to look at my temporary internet files and cookie files.

OMG!!!! She has spent all weekend surfing the net!!! Myspace.com blogs, dating sites... and what is this!? Babeoftheweek.com? holly Sh***!!! that's a porn site! OMG there are jpeg pictures on my PC!!! OMG these are naked chicks!

ok I download adaware run it... remove over 200 spyware files.

ok I download Avast antivirus software... run it... OMG!!! 32 viruses! 3 trojans!

I couldn't remove 3 of the viruses... they are imbedded in my internet explorer tool bar! I called a PC tech and paid him $60 to tell me after using 3 other antivirus software programs he can't get rid of the toolbar add-on either it is a hidden program spyware and virus in it'self. I have two choices. #1 disable internet explorer and use firefox as a browser from now on #2 reformat my hard drive.

*#@^%&!!!!!!

We JUST got internet so I can use helios backoffice, and PC anywhere form home and conect to my PC in my office. I handed out new employee contracts for all employees to sign "No employee internet use" policies. With steep legal action penalties!!!

Manager tries to print out payroll today... what's this? we are out of ink? ok I buy more ink... install new cartrige.... ???!!! 20 pages of playgirl type centerfolds pics printing form memory!!!

so... umm... ya, I just found out in the most awkward way possible that my weekend girl is a lesbian and the reason she has been so buddy buddy with my new manager is NOT because she wants a raise ... it's because she thinks she is HOT! ? !

Unbelievable!!!!

Trying to:

This works for me.... go to your

"Internet Options"...Content....Content Advisor
you can require a password, this should fix it.
As far as your virus problem, can you open in "Safe Mode"?, run a scan & delete?

Tried the delete in safe mode... got all the viruses gone BUT the main problem lies with this little tool bar ad-on that has been attached to my internet explorer... it is VERY resilliant and refuses to be deleted. the toolbar is a spyware program and is the cause of the 10+ pop up per minute. No matter what program we try ... nadda. I have even had a PC tech for 2 hours trying to get it off. No luck. for now we have disabled IE and have installed Mozilla/firefox but I'm not happy about it.

I am going to try to place a password on the internet conection but I am affriad it may lock up my ability to stay connected to the system from my home office. Which is the whole reson behind me getting internet installed in the first place. I think I may be able to simply put a password on a screensaver to lock up the PC all together unless I am using it.

OM GOSH!!! No wonder you were up in arms when you i-em'd me today....

#1....DON'T let her go because of her sexual preference nor make any inuendo whatsoever about that...period!!!

#2....FIRE HER for sabataging your work horse....PERIOD!!!

#3....DEDUCT every living cent of ANY pay she may have coming to recover and pay for you time, the techs time and your lost data and humility of having to be subjected to such trash on your own equipment...and complete disregard of your store reputation and lack of respect for you or any of your other clerks. WHAT IF::::: U had't seen those pictures first??? I am Thanking Jesus right now for that not happening...as the next thing would have been all over the salon... that you were the weirdo...

#4....MAKE sure there is NO WAY she may collect ONE THIN DIME from unemployment.

#5....Take 2 aspirins and call me in the morning....and please do so before you pull the trigger on your puter...

We still love ya...and if I can help...please let me know as I do have puter knowledge as well.....Soo

Post *hugs* Soo

Thanks Soo ya I was a bit stressed the other day when you and I were chattin in IM's haha.

I am making all my employees sign that employe policy manual agreement and an additional internet use contract that allows me to deduct from pay for the cost of repairs to my equipment from employee misuse. We have to have the employees permission to decuct from their payroll in my state.

omg what a nightmare this has been! Still working on the fix... my internet explorer is rendured completely useless. If it is ever opened again it will reinfest the system so we have removed all access to the IE file. Installed Mozilla's Firefox as a new browser. Placed a password on my server screen saver that only myself and the manager know. So NO ONE is going to be able to access that PCs desktop... period!

UGH what a drag to deal with ...

With all the monney you just paid out, and all the emotions and time spent on getting the computer fixed.... It's cheaper to just take the computer up to the top of the tallest building you can find and just let it drop to the ground... I'd imagine that you'd want to include the goth wanna-be tied securely onto the computer.....

However, I do want to say that I am the proud parent of several goths. The Goth lifestyle has been around for the last twenty years now. All of the goths I have met are very intelligent, sensible, and emotionally well put together people. They like the emotional bang they get when they do things for shock value. Goths tend to be very interested in what makes themselves tick instead of what makes other people tick, they internalize everything and most wouldn't harm your business. Goths pay attention to the rules like everyone else. Don't blame the problems of this employee on her being a Goth.
I say you should drop the wannabe off the tallest building along with the computer. But don't fire her, there are probably some federal rules about firing her at this point for internet use and privacy. If it's a federal law you break you'd could get 40 years of jail at a minimum security prison with every luxury for white collar criminals where you can write your book, learn to play golf, have a computer and phone available to you and get three meals and a private room.... whereas some forms of murder will get you sent to a state run rat infested concrete block for a couple of years sleeping with Bubba..... it's your choice!

No one has internet access in my store, computer is password protected and it has wireless internet when I leave I take the wireless connection with me. They could figure out a way I'm sure but I have no online carries loaded in the guest or employees log in on computer, only as a manager log in can you access the internet and I'm the only one with that password. Hub has to ask me to log in for him..No One needs to be on the internet but Me.

Goth or not she has absolutely no reason to be on the internet during work hours. Also, doesn't the "goth lifestyle" include pale skin ? YUCK another bad choice as a tanning salon employee (ha). Definetly don't mention the "gay" thing.......we sure wouldn't want the "rainbow coalition" after you....I hope you fired her asap....document it all, and she'll be lucky to be working at a local burger joint soon, or "Hot Topic" at the closest mall. There she can even pierce any body part she chooses ! ( and show it )
You may need to add a new line in your Employee Handbook you just finished......a "no Goth" section, (ha!)

Good Luck interviewing new applicants !

Seriously, you can't discriminate against anyone for their lifestyle choices any more than you can force an employee to have a tan or to even use the tanning equipment. Be careful about your employee dress codes, and don't blame the person's unauthorized use of the internet on the person's lifestyle choices - otherwise you are setting yourself up for a employment discrimination suit.

Fire the employee and dont give them a reason. Saying nothing is better than saying anything and in most states you are an At Will employer meaning that you or the employee can terminate the employer-employee relationship for any reason at any time.

If you get this next phrase down you will never be pissed off at an employee.

YOUR EMPLOYEES WILL NEVER, EVER WORK AS HARD AS YOU!!!!!!

Talking What goes up must come down

Hello boyz and girlies Topic update and review time.

#1
I wasn't being discriminative about her poor choice in sudden change of lifestyle... my employee manual clearly states NO JEAN, NO T SHIRTS, NO HATS, NO PEIRCINGS. It also states that all employees will dress UP not down to come to work. Will look proffesional and have styled hair and makeup.

#2
When we hired her she was a beautiful brunette who has a modeling portfolio and was scheduled to participate in the Miss Oregon 2006 pagent. One day she just showed up with pale makup on lots of eyeliner with dyed black hair, ripped jeans and piercings YUK!

#3
She went to work for the tanning salon down the street and has already been fired for stealing from them too!

ROFLMFAO!

P.S. Oregon is a no fault employment state... we can fire anyone, at anytime for no reason what-so-ever

Not true!
The State of Oregon offers no protection in the workplace for gays. It may seem hard to believe, but in Oregon(liberal heaven) you can legally refuse to hire someone because they are gay. The state is just now looking into changing this. You currently are forbidden to discriminate by race, creed, age and sex but NOT by sexual orientation!

You can however, discriminate on a lifestyle choice like this.

1.The second you walked in you should have sent her home with a written warning about proper company dress code. I can't believe you let her serve customers like that.

2. All your computers should be desktopped passworded, I am amazed they were not. Internet on any computers out front should be content passworded.

I have it this way for many years. No one can get on the internet up front and no one can even get to my desktop on my office computer.

IMO, maybe she isn't they one you should be calling stupid.
