Not all - but most - young black people have adopted the wrong manners, dress, language, etc.... and then wonder why they have trouble getting real productive work in this world we live in.

Just go ask Bill Cosby if you don't believe me. It may not seem wrong to them... given the crap they've been exposed to on BTN and even MTV.... but it IS wrong for survival in the real "real world".

There are plenty of white punks and Goth types still roaming the malls... so this is not unique to Negros. It is simply the awful "liberal" philosophy: if it feels good do it.

This is why voting for either Hillary or Obama is flat-ass WRONG. They want to perpetuate the dependent society which contributes virtually nothing of monetary value and sucks off those who do.

K well I haven't read the rest of this thread yet but to respond to that...I was raised never to expect free handouts. That I was to work hard for everything I wanted. Not to count on anyone but myself to save me if I was in trouble. I am responsible for my own actions and my own future. No one else. Not to say my parents haven't given me anything or helped with the salon at all, but they got to where they are because they believe the same thing and they worked their ass off to get there.

And I believe there are plenty of people born in the projects that worked hard and became successful. I also know there are plenty of people who were born in the suburbs who sat on their ass and are now in the projects. It doesn't matter where you are born you get to where you want to be by how hard you work. People that expect someone to swoop in and save them have been watching too many movies.

I agree with all that. But the minorities who have made it out of the ghettos have had to overcome more than the average white person.

Now I understand that there have been white people that have huge obstacles as well. When I say the average I mean the average. Obviously, there are people outside of that.

Man I'm glad you came back Steve. Yes, I agree with all but the last line. And yes I understand why you feel that way. It's conventional to think that all democrats want to "take from the rich and give to the poor".

As a person first and a democrat second I don't want to do that either. The difference between you and me is that I don't look at universal health care the same way you do. I don't see it as all the rich people providing health care for all the poor people. I see an opportunity for everyone to save because you will have more people paying into the system.

Obviously, if you are paying nothing now it's not exactly savings but Queenie summed it up pretty well with her story about her friend who just claimed "hardship". Who do you think paid for her and the hundreds of thousands of others like her? The people who do buy health insurance paid for them with our inflated premiums to cover the uninsured.

It's easy to say "I don't need health insurance" because everyone knows hospitals can't turn anyone away. You can get every life saving procedure known to man and then say "pump off" when the bill comes. That's great for Queenies friend but it sucks for me. That's why car insurance is mandated - and why the penalties are so severe if you don't have it.

Well she is in hardship. She lost her tanning salon, is about to lose her house and pretty much went into a panic attack and had to be hospitalized for it. I am honestly not sure how that gets handled or who actually pays for it. But I do know that it doesnt cost the hospital $6 for a freakin bandaid yet that is what is charged to the insurance company. I can buy a box of 100 for that at BJ's and you darn well know the hospital buys more than I do a year so would get even more of a discount.

Now, I do have insurance now but that is only because I promised my Mom I would. I have a greater chance of getting breast cancer than most people seeing that I have not only a history of it in my family, but a lump removed at age 21, and have never had any kids. I tan too. Wait, does that raise or lower it now? I forget. Probably will kill me too so oh well. Anyway, I still havent used my $287 a month fee's worth of insurance yet. Let alone the co-pays for it. But my prescriptions are cheaper than I was paying out of pocket, especially for the happy pills I was on after Mom died. But then I got fat so I am off of them now. So much for pills making you happy. Seriously, if you are depressed, then take pills to make you happy, then you get fat from them, now you are MORE depressed than before! What is the point of the pills! LOL!
