Question Statewide TSO Groups

I know there are statewide tanning salon owner groups organized in Florida and California. There are probably others I don't know about.

Good idea or bad idea?

How effective are they in responding to local issues: legislative, regulatory, media, etc.?

Were they easy to organize or is it another difficult exercise in herding cats?

Is there a blueprint for organizing a statewide TSO group?

I think they are a good idea, but it would be my guess that they are close to impossible to start and keep going. The salon owners that have been in business for a while and are "successful" probably think they have nothing to gain from something like this, and the newer owners would benefit the most, but it would have to be beneficial to all at some point. I also think that most owners are afraid to share any ideas or information with anyone else, and I don't understand this. I think we could all gain so much by meeting together and just discussing different topics.
