Default Nation Wide FORMOSTAR Ad with Chronos Marketing

So here's the idea I have been toying around with.

Muscle and Fitness, Oxygen, Men's Health are just some of the magazines any serious bodybuilders and health fanatics subscribe to and read religiously.

The idea is that advertising on these magazines would be perfect for the formostar, but you would need locations everywhere in the U.S. and Canada.

Solution: EVERY salon in north america with a formostar could join forces and together could put a one or two page add for one or two of these magazines. The success on local health magazines is a fact, so imagine a national magazine with much greater recognition and a much higher number of readers.

A problem I could see is if too many salons join, how to properly address each location with a full address and phone number. Instead of having it on print, have a one page website (low cost) with everyone's full address and contact info. and only print the website on the 1 or 2 page mag. ad.

What are your thoughts on something like this?

Why not do this with UV awareness, since there are tons of tanning salons in the country, estimates state 38-50K tanning salons if each gave $100 you'd have close to 5 million dollars to do a positive campaign that would get in front of millions of people, have either ITA or some other reputable association take the lead on this so as not to repeat the Russ and Dana saga. Berman is a good route as well, but Berman needs to pay Berman first before you'll see anything like this.

Sure you can go the grass roots way that most have been doing, but I believe go big or go home.

The best thing would be a new formostar website only for customer's eyes, this could list all the contributers of the advertisement.

Mike

The idea here is a national magazine read by hundreds of thousands every day, not the website mentioned. The website is just the tool the customers interested would use, to find the closest location to them.

Jeff,

UV awareness is a good idea, but lets stick to the formostar for now on this thread
Many of the ads we do at chronos marketing for salons with formostars work. The main thing with this unit is customers knowing what the machine is all about, and how they can benefit from using it. That's what this ad would be about. Everyone is interested in weight loss, you just have to make sure they know that you offer a service like that.

That was my point with the website, you can't print every single salon in the ad.

Read this a few days ago on a BB forum...

For some people who eat lousy diets, I suppose its a good thing - at the very least it would be a very dramatic (and graphic) illustration of what that shit (literally) is doing to their bodies....

Here's an interesting little illustration of the ideas of "cleansing" and "removing toxins" via an herbal wrap... They claim that you can lose huge numbers of inches of "size" by doing one of these w/ the idea being that you will dump toxins from your system after you complete an herbal wrap. OK so I went to do this about 2 weeks before a competition I did in 2005. Obviously I was already very lean and living on a very limited diet for several weeks -- I was looking to try it and see if it really worked. So I did the wrap - they wrap you all up in bandages soaked in this warm herbal stuff. And then you're supposed to jump around and what not for like 30-45 min or something (they had videos in the room for me to watch... LOL!) So then they measure the circumference of basically everything on you - forearms, upper arm, thigh, calf, etc, etc, etc. before & after. Their big claim is that you lose inches doing this. For me at this state of contest prep I lost a TOTAL of LESS THAN 5 inche EVERYWHERE. So I actually got the whole thing for free.

But that does give you an idea of how CLEAN (aka toxin free) you get on a competition diet. I think its not good to go forever w/o fruits and stuff but the overall BB diet is really very clean and should not require something as extreme as these colonics and stuff.. At least in general and IMO.

This is NOT a Formostar wrap. This is that silly age bandage wrap thingy.

We would have to be sure it was very clear in the ad what Formostar and Infrared is and what it does. I think Mike's idea of leading to a website that gives more info and then shows a list of associated salons is a good one.

NO she says she was lean already (because competitive body builders keep a clean diet most of the time) and lost pretty much nothing, so she actually got the wrap free (they must have had some guarantee).

My point was that bodybuilders know how to lose weight -- espcially water weight -- and therefore don't have a need to use something like this.

BUT I'm talking REAL bodybuilders, the kind that get in competition shape. Maybe the mags you chose should be those NOT geared toward 'real' BB but more the softer mags, the more casual workout mags...

Suze, most of my guy customers read men's health, and many many non bodybuilder/fittness competitor females read oxygen. well....fine...what about Cosmo. Every woman I know reads Cosmo. The magazines I mentioned are nothing more than just suggestions and exapmles.

what you need is a company to do a write up of the results, almost like a case study

As George stated, we will build a website where it will have formostar information etc...and a list of associated salons that it can be found at in their area.

Of Course, only the salons that would agree and contribute their share for the ad would be listed on there.

It would need to be a substantial amount of salons to keep the price reasonable.

Again, we would build a website to house all the salons info like Salon name, address, tel # and website link if applicable.

Mike,

we aren't talking about 5 tanning salons to pitch for the ad...we're talking about dozens+ US and Canada......

I am not talking about a few salons.

Think of how much you would pay for a 10,000-20,000 maiout and multiply it by 100-150 salons.

Totally off topic but WHY would you say fitness competitors are not bodybuilders?????? What is so different? They work out hard, they diet, and then they get on stage and have their bodies judged by a panel. HOW IS THAT NOT BODYBUILDING

I don't read Cosmo. They are way too anti-tanning for my tastes.

Not trying to be awful here! Just trying to give you feedback... I think should you do this stick to softer fitness magazines, maybe Self? Fitness Rx for Women?? IMO mags like Muscle & Fitness would be a huge waste of $$...
