If your gross is 120k and your net 8k - I don't know what it would be worth 'cause I'm new at this. I did looked at a classy salon and they were asking 49k and she was in the red for 5k a month (not even breaking even after 2 years). She owed 89 in leased equipment. Her build out was 150 and she can't give that place away. Nice area, bad location.

Why are you so sensitive about a salon you don't even own Mr Pissy Pants?

Cuz he wanted us to come on here (in a teeteringly bad economy) and recommend he go throw his money at a salon and hope all works out.
I am going to just tell every newbie that comes on here looks like a good deal! Beds are old, no upgrades, pricing sucks, (did i mention the economy) but hey mortgage the house a second time and go for it!!!!!!!

TangerineTan, If you want to seem smart, at least try to write smart? These text messages you send us make you look, well, uneducated.
Spell check goes a long way to helping you look more intelligent, Thats the red line under half the words you spell, just right click on them and it will help you spell them correctly. I'm just trying to be helpful, not insulting.
To answer your original question, there is no real formula when it comes to tanning salons. The salon is worth what ever someone is willing to pay for it. Will it or can it make more money? Thats the real question and no one can answer that until they try to run it. Can you pay too much and have it flop? Of course and thats what people here are trying to save you from. Many here have already made these mistakes. They are just trying to help you from making the same. Will you listen?
If you want it that bad, buy it, no one is stopping you. We are just trying to let you see inside our heads and see that owning a small tanning salon is not the best place you could be spending your money, especially now!
Use search and you will find 10's if not hundreds of posts just like this one and they all say the same thing.
Small tanning salons are duds if you are looking to make money, You need at least 8 beds and many think double that. And who is to say that a month after you buy, Planet beach or someone opens down the street and undercuts you every way they can, will you survive?
Try something else..put in the other 7 months and get your electricians license, the building boom will start again at some point! It will probably be a better return on your investment. Or look at something else, like pizza! Everyone needs to eat, few choose to tan.
(and fewer everyday as I see it) It may take years for this business to make a comeback, then again, it just may never comeback.
Just my 3 cents...wait, I'll need to take one back, I have to pay some bills..
