| This use to happen YEARS ago by these little internet companies - calling and tricking your employees! Never thought it would happen from DISCOVER! A few days ago I receieved a letter to an employee about a new membership! I Knew then something was up. Sure enough- got my Discover bill and a $49.95 charge was being drafted out of my account. I called this employee and she said someone called saying they were with discover and just needed to ask some questions! Nothing about a 50 charge! They are some good double talkers! And what makes me even more mad is I have explained this til I was Blue in the face! DO NOT TALK TO THESE PEOPLE!!!!! HANG UP!! Anyway Discover says they are a third party owned by them and they have the right! WHATEVER! Talked to company and they are SUPPOSE to be crediting my account! We will see! I guess they count on getting these companies that just pass their bills off to a third party that doesnt care- so be on the look out! |

| Moderator | I had this happen to me twice a few years ago but this was put on my bellsouth telephone bill. They were a internet service that I had applied for. RIGHT!! They even had the person who authorized the charges. It was one of my part time employees. College student. Bellsouth told me the same thing they were the third party and I would have to contact the company. It took me 4 months to get this straightened out. Last year I had a company call that started sending me tape, ink, etc at 450.00 a pop. The first shipment was sent and the girl accepted it. Never opened but the company said I would have to pay the shipping charges for them to pick it up. HELL NO. i spoke to the owner of the company and he said he would see me in court. I called the BBB and they had a line of complaints on them. They finally picked it up and that was the last of that. Be careful Tell your employees not to give anyone their name or answer any questions. These type people are very tricky. |

| Moderator/Arbonne VP | BTDT. Scam companies rely on someone other than the boss answering the phone. Happens a lot with ink and paper for credit card machines. I tell my employees to never ever give their name over the phone unless they know it's a customer. | Just a handsome guy. Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: USA Posts: 727 | I just had that happen to me twice in the last two weeks. Both were supposedly authorized by my employees. One was $50.00 a month for tech support for our computers or printers, the other was for a website. Neither company got paid a dime, **** them. I was also sent a box of credit card paper a couple years ago, I kept it and paid them nothing. I told my staff to hang up on ANY call that does not involve tanning sales. Also, don't take any messages if the caller does not know who I am. Any calls for the owner, manager or person in charge, HANG UP. |
