We are looking to hire 2 girls and was wondering what is a good pay ? Are any of you paying cash ? 6 an hour or 7 is what we were thinking ? Thanks

DONT get into payin under the table. It can totally screw you up if someone complains. Just be legit and to it right. Pay min plus commissions.

We pay minimum wage. Plus they get free tanning and 50% off any products we carry. I don't agree with paying under the table because it's illegal and all it takes is one employee to get mad at you and you are in deep trouble. You have too much invested in your business to put it in the hands of someone earning minimum wage.

We start at $7/hr plus comission, which is pretty much in line with other retail and sales jobs in our area. We give free tanning (employee only) and sell them lotions at 40% off.

Its not worth it to pay someone under the table, get caught and your in deep shit.

Just remember you have to be paying at least min wage according to your state. Some are even more than $7.15.

Yes. I want them tan and I want them to promote the best equipment. We depend on upgrades so I want my employees to tan in that equipment. And it helps to have someone tan behind the counter when it comes to selling packages and lotion.

The old owner of my salon used to charge employees to tan in the upgrade beds. The employees never upgraded. Then when customers asked - what bed do you use? - the employees said..."Oh, I only tan in the regular beds."

I'm sure you see where this is going.....

I pay $1 over min wage, plus commission. free tanning in all beds plus free mystic. 50% off lotions and we also do incentive contests for beating my ppa, lppa etc.

Yes unlimited tanning in any bed. Employees must tan either before or after their shift, unless we're slow and I'm there, then I'll tell them to go ahead. They are also at the back of the line whenever we have customers waiting.

Pay peanuts get monkeys... I employ sales people, not cheap labour. Good sales staff are worth a lot more than base wage. If you actually want to employ staff that can run your place for you and able to turn the numbers you want when your not there than don't pay base rate.

Commission should be involved but if you tell someone they are earning base rate than thats what they think their worth, regardless of commission, your not gonna get any kind of decent standard/results from them.

If your gonna pay base rate than expect base standard employees.

July 24 Federal Min wage goes to 6.55. July 24 2009 7.25. If your state is lower or higher (mine is lower) you must pay the higher rate.
