Default test or just weird woman?

had a lady come in, said she was interested in swimwear but didn't look at the suits, then walked over to my feature unit and say, so this is a tanning unit. Do many people use them? I say yes. she says to me, but what about the rays, it can't be good for you. I say tanning beds produce vitamin D. i hand her a print out of stuff that I just printed off this site, positive articles, I tell her to have a read. she tells me her doctor says she must stay out of the sun, dresses head to toe in white, long sleeves long pants, is sickly white skin, says she had a mole removed on her back. She keeps questioning me in a weird way, like she's trying to lead me into saying something I shouldn't say. I just tell her to read about the benifits of vitamin D. Then she looks at me funny and asks me how my back is. I tell her fine, why, she says, oh i just get muscle tention . I"m like WTF was that?

...so eloquently spoken.
As far as tests go I have had a strange phone call. She said she just turned 16 and wanted to tan, how long could she tan? how often? She didn't sound like a 16 y/o. I told her length of the sessions was determined by skin type. I told her the regs states once a day but tanning every day isn't necessary (self preservation, that last thing I need is a high school kid tanning 30 times a month) lastly I told her she needed her mother to sign a release. She never came in.

Probably someone just wanting to make a point about her feelings on tanning.

Did she even look at the material you handed her?

That's weird. We get a few of those people in from time to time...

Keep in mind though, I don't think it's legal for us to say "Tanning beds produce Vitamin D". I believe you are supposed to infer that UV light produces Vitamin D, and tanning beds emit UV light.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't this what the Chain in Texas was sued from? Claiming their beds produce Vitamin D?

Canada may be able to say that, but we can't (US). We can only say sunlight produces Vitamin D or UVB rays produce Vitamin D.

Well you'll have to do what Doug mcNabb did and just say it, then when you go through the lawsuit, you get someone like Joe levy in your corner. If every salon in the US said this, then you could all ban together and quickly get that law changed. When I first met Doug McNabb was when he was right in the midst of going through his trial, and I said to him, Im so sorry to hear what is happening to you. He said "don't be" this is a good thing. Now someone like him being a nationwide franchise would be able to afford the lawsuit, thats why I suggest all salons ban together on that one in the U.S.
