| Still a Rookie | Why...just curious now....why would you....to prove what. That you have more $$. I think that if closing 3 days a week works for you then have at it....Why come on here and post the question if you didn't want responses, good or bad. Did you really expect everyone to say, "Hey, I think that is a GREAT idea." Really....if you can pay for salon expenses out of your own pocket, then hire someone to run those 2 days for you. I really think you would be making a big mistake....it is like saying, I haven't seen anyone for 2 hours, so I'm going to close and screw my clients.... |

First we see them cut back closing time, then they are closed on Sundays...the next step is closed all together. I could only imagine how fast closing 3 days a week is ultimately going to expedite the inevitable. Closing 3 days a week is not going to proportinately cut your expenses by an equal amount. Best of luck to you, but this is a huge mistake regardless of what business you are in. |

The purpose would be to take as much money out of you pocket as possible. Sure it'd suck to not have that money coming into the salon, but how many seasons like that could your salon live through? Saying someone is making a mistake and calling them an idiot are two very different things. I pretty much stopped coming here due to the bullshit from a few individuals. It appears the mods have had their chains shortened a bit, but the same disgruntled salon owners are still at it. I posted this because I knew what the majority of the responses would be and it'd be entertaining. My expectations were met.... |

And in the mean time, he's done playing the salon game right now so he's looking at screwing paying clients out of the schedules that they agreed to at the time of purchase. Let me ask, does your job have anything to do with the government? He sounds like a happy individual to me. __________________ Act weird and let 'em wonder. |

Neither in place now nor plans to implement it at this time, but it is something we'll consider if things slow down to much. I placed the question knowing mostly what the outcome would be, but I did get a different perspective of things from a couple of posters. And for that I am thankful. |

I'm not rich. I wish I were! I have a job that pays my bills. As for running other salons out of business… I doubt you’ll find few salons who wouldn’t jump at the opportunity of lowering the amount of comp in their area! If it makes you feel better. I'm a really unhappy person. ![]() | |

Jez, this is starting to get old. Had this thread come our during busy season we wouldn't be entertaining him near as much as we have been. Can we just let him go. He's annoying me. __________________ Act weird and let 'em wonder. |

The name calling, I know I'm one too, isn't doing anything positive to help any one at all. __________________ Act weird and let 'em wonder. |

| Moderator/Arbonne VP | Wow is all I can say. I can only speak for myself but (1) I am not disgruntled in any way towards my salon or this industry (2) I was truly only trying to help and give my 14 years experience in this industry not only of my own salon(s) but others around me (not only in this thread and others but the investment in time and travel to see your salon) and (3) I'm not quite sure how I like being used for entertainment purposes and just for the fun of it. I can't speak for anyone else but I have been completely sincere in my attempt to help you and advise you. It was not from a standpoint of negativity, being disgruntled with my salon or industry or anything like that. It was simply experience talking and trying to help. I guess I've been naive when it comes to you James. I'm sorry for even putting in my opinion. I gather it was completely unnecessary as was most of the others. __________________ ![]() Please talk to me if you would like to bring a great line of skin care into your salon. | Moderator | As much of an ass as you have been towards me, I also just was trying to be honest and help. But, like others, dont like to be toyed with for your general amusement. If you really arent here to contribute and be a productive poster, why are you here? Just for shits and giggles? __________________ |

She has done great in her first few months and will only get better. And, not to be insulting, but even if you gave away free tanning in your beds to put her out of business, I believe that she would most likely still get people to come in and pay for her service because if I'm not mistaken, she has better equipment. People will pay for exceptional quality and exceptional service. |

| Moderator | I KNOW I have contributed enough to participate here tho you had issues with that. But I dont start threads to play games with people and pretend thier posts have meaning. There are many other ways to be entertained. __________________ |

| Rookie Join Date: Aug 2008 Posts: 9 | I am open 12 hours a day 7 days a week. I am the salon owner and the only employee...as of now. There isn't a day that goes by that I wouldn't like to just close up for a day or two a week. Even though some days are slow...the customers want the flexibility to come in whenever they choose to...especially if they are purchasing a week package or unlimited monthly. They may feel like they are getting ripped off otherwise. I know that I would. Just something to think about. |
