Default Do you monitor your salon with cameras?

Curious if you monitor your lobby area and behind the counter with a camera system? If so does this create concerns with your clients wondering if you have cameras in the tanning rooms. I really want to be able to watch my employees due to inventory shortages in busy season.

If you do, where did you buy your equipment and what do you use. I would like to be able to check up on them at home via internet as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Swann - DVR4-Pro-Net 4-Channel Security System with 8.4" Monitor - SW242-SRM

Have only had one person "worry" about if I can see into the rooms. She is the same person that asks a new stupid question every day so it wasn't a big deal. The peace of mind is worth it.

i use swann as well, wouldnt dream of not having it
One tip, dont buy the ebay/cheap camera deals, they only give you a power supply for each camera that has a 4 foot lead and no-one has plugs up against the ceiling,
Spend more and get the system with the power cable and the camera cable that are together, i havent had any luck with the wireless either
You also want one that records motion, this is fantastic because you can log in and see the "events" of that camera instead of watching 8 hours of recording to catch 3 min of action!

Camera systems are simple to install and as you have found out about a third the cost of buying from companies like ADT.

We have a camera system in the front of the store, none in the salon area. Also have security tag system on retail. And we track all inventory in Helios.

Security equipment we installed ourseves and purchased at a local wholesale company.

Yea installed it myself, and even got the remote viewing working myself for awhile, but then something happened and now I can't watch it from home anymore, but it still records and I can watch it on the comp at the salon, I think I just need to figure out how to log into my router again and change something nad then it will work. It's all pretty simple. The only issue I had with Swann is that I believe they are from a country other than the US so the directions were a little hard to follow.

I've bought a PC and put a Geovision capture card in it. Installed camera's myself. Pretty easy...

Thanks to the motion detection I allways have the last 6 months of recording of all 5 camera's with a 500GB harddrive.

Not sure about that one but I bought one similar on ebay awhile back and it was junk. Real hard to use and understand and the cameras were horrible. Now I use a Geovision 600 card in my computer and with the 3 cameras I think it cost me something like $375 or so. Does a good job.

Camera's are a must not only to protect yourself but to help protect the employees that work for you from potential harm.
I think it's creepy for a customer to think there is a camera in a room. If a customer ever asked me that I'd tell them we run a professional salon and could they please leave now.

I sleep better at night just by being able to look into the salon remotely and seeing that everything looks okay.
