JustTans, how many amps do you have, and what is run off of it. The reason I ask is at our existing salon all of our beds run off of a 200amp panel. Thats 8 beds, 1 is a 50 amp 3phase, 1 is a 60amp, 2 are 50 amp, 3 are 30amp, and 1 20amp. And I've ran them all at the same time and never had a problem. You can do more than you think with not a lot of electric.

I'm not really sure, I'm assuming its a 200amp panel, I'll have to check the beds when I get there tomorrow. Electrical stuff goes right over my head though so I don't know if that will help, when the time gets closer I'll have to get an electrician in to really help me out. But I figure if I'm getting rid of 2 beds and only bringing 1 more in I should be good. But if I have too much stuff running at once (portable AC and HVLP) I blow a fuse. I can run all the beds at once though.

Well, right now my salon is averaging right around $5 per tanner. The other day we only averaged $3 and I almost died! I am going to restructure my price list and see what happens. Right now, I do commission with my staff but only on lotions, I think I am going to change that also to getting a commission based on having a minimum sales per tanner instead. I hope that will help because obviously something is wrong here.

For more advice here is my bed mix

Base beds and booths (with facials) $7 per visit
Triple bed and Vho booth $3 upgrade.
Ultrasun Magnum bed and suncapsule magnum booth $4 upgrade
Quad bed $5 upgrade
Turbo Bed, Suncapsule X7 booth $6 upgrade.

Nothing else on that panel but my beds. Everything else in the salon is on a seperate 150amp panel.

I wouldn't try to start them all at the exact time but their running amp draw is a lot less than what breaker the bed calls for.

Upgrades should be 1/2 price from a walkin. Based on your X7 upgrade price of $6.00....that' leads me to believe you only charge $12 for a walkin price. If that is wrong and you charge more than that, then you have to revisit your upgrade price. it should be 1/2 off a walkin session price.

That should be the same for all your beds. Your triple bed (whatever that is) shows a $3.00 upgrade. Which means you only charge $6.00 for a tan single session walkin. Again, if that's not the case, you need to revisit that.

Your base beds can be free with the membership, but all other beds should be 1/2 off a walkin session. it shouldn't be an upgrade fee of a couple dollars. That is where you are loosing money and not making ends meet or have a ppa of $3.00.

Memberships are meant to give a discounted rate to the customer from regular price.

For example. $29.99 a month will give you the base bed for free and all upgrade beds are 1/2 price based on EFT.

My base bed is a 32lamp/100W-R with 2 HP facials (12min session). I charge $12 for a session. if you buy a 1 month membership on it for $69, it's free and all the upgrade beds are 1/2 price.

My VHR bed and standup are $16 for a tan. If you have the membership for the base bed and want to upgrade to the VHR, you get it for 1/2 price, which is $8.00. Our HP bed is $32 for a session, the membership would give it to you for $16.00. The only thing that is included is the base bed.

Pricing for a 1month (non-EFT) should be roughly the cost of 6 walkin tans on that specific bed (this is just for 1 month, not an EFT membership). So if you charge $7.00 for your base bed, that's $42 for a 1 month membership. now you can round that up or down to $45 or $39. I would round it up though. Why make less $$$.

SO upgrades should be half price...is that for a standard month of tanning (non eft?) should it be different for eft peeps? I have an eft for each level, but have a few that upgrade everytime to the vertical unit...right now my upgrade is just the price difference for individual tans.

Mine too.

Din,
Let's say someone buys a 5 pack of lev 1 for $39.99. Walk in price on that unit is $10.99 so buying that package saves them about $15. That client wants to upgrade one of those tans to level 2, with a walk in price of $14.99, the upgrade would be $7.50, if I understand your pricing correctly. Why would they ever upgrade if it's going to cost them more that way than just buying a single lev 2. I'd think that'd cause people to stop buying a package and just buy walk ins. I'd rather get people to purchase packages and keep them from walking out my store and hoping they come back.

Where am I wrong here?

I'm thinking the same thing. My upgrades are the difference in walk-in price. If they paid half the walk in price, they would be paying more than a single visit.
