Question about hours?? - TanToday - Helping Salon Owners, One At A Time, Since 2000!

So, as some of you know, I open at 6 a.m. Well since I have been opened, I have seen 177 tans between 6-7a.m. Between 7-8 a.m. I have seen 285 tans...So would you move back your time to 7 a.m. or is the 177 tans enough to stay open...Money wise since April 1st, we have made $1156 in the 6-7 a.m. hour and $1446 in the 7-8 a.m. hour and doubled that in the 8-9 hour....I really don't want to piss off my 3rd shifters, but what would you do?? Should I wait till I go through a whole "season" before I adjust, or should I adjust now if I need to? Remember I am right next to Panera Bread that opens at 6a.m.

You tanned 177 people between 6am-7am in roughly a 120 day period and then only 285 in the 7am-8am hour. That's only about 4 people on average per day in those 2 early hours. I wouldn't open until 8am at the earliest if I were in your position.

I'm of a different mindset than movieking. I look at it as more of a customer service decision than anything. And you opened mid-season and haven't really gone through an entire season with those hours. For me I would stay open the same hours for at least one full year and through the next season then I could make a better decision. I open at 9 but I am the first store to open in the plaza. My first store opened at 7 but there were stores in that plaza that also opened at 7. I wanted to be there when other people were driving in and out of the parking lot.

Just my 2 cents.

Start new hours October 1st and post them now.

Those 2-4 people will adapt.

When I changed my hours from opening from 9 to 10am, the few people that moaned, are the same ones here at 10 now... No issues here.

Well...I only had 1 here all the time at 6, but it was hit and miss with her...It has been over a week since she was here last...anyway, she just came in and I spoke to her, we worked soemthing out. Over the past month, it has been her at 6 a.m. and not another client until 8 a.m....so starting next week.
