| Agree with queenie here. Bleachy and the Old dude who got the investors are running with it. Thats smart. And any idiot who wants to dress like a poser or a slut can buy their clothes online too. Whatever. Maloof is smart for getting another tv show into his hotel for the price of a tanning salon...500k maybe..rent free and he keeps the money..they wont see a dime of that...purely part of the hype and spin. The IDIOTS are the people who think this assinine TV show will still be on the air when their salons get open. 35 salons in Dallas (where Robbie basically isn't, it is Planet Tan Tony and Palm Beach there)... There "may be" a tiny novelty in a year when the 1st salons get opened, but the high pressure sales of lotion and the dipshit sheer stupidity of the organization as portrayed on TV will not encourage people to tan there. Quite the opposite as SunStyle in LA has shown Sunset tans of late. It is just funny how people who know nothing about our industry jump on the wrong bandwagon. If this dude was serious about tanning salons....he would hook up with Palm Beach as they actually might have some staying power. Or Robbie if he could tolerate working with an omniscient owner/partner. |

The show is what it is, conflict, cattyness, and sex, that happens to take place in a tanning salon. Who would actually watch a show about the diference in a level 2 bronzer compared to a level 10 bronzer. How many times would you watch somebody skin type someone. | |

I seriously don't see them getting past 2-3 stores before realizing they made a mistake. PBT is one thing, but trying to compete with Planet Tan????... Tony Hartl is an animal. Just my 2 cents... |

"you must purchase or lease equipment to operate an LA Sunset Tan, including 7 sunergoline tanning beds, 1 mystic tan spray booth, and 1 caltan spray booth" good luck with that ...especially in Dallas of all places |

Are you getting a lot of interest in the franchise or do you plan to focus on your own corporate stores first? | Moderator | I would never think the people from the show actually would work in the salons in real life. Just wouldnt happen. Besides the fact that they are incompetent, it wouldnt be good for the show. But, the general perception by the public is that this is the kind of thing that goes on in the tanning world. And if I were jane tanner and saw a sunset tans salon, I would think twice before going there to tan. __________________ |

| Hall of Famer Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Ca Posts: 2,890 | Let me get this straight. Putting in 7 ergoline tanning beds, a mystic and a Cal Tan spray booth and some good decor requires you to FRANCHISE the LA Sunset Tans brand? I can't do the same thing and call it Sunset Tan? Or Miami Sunset Tan without paying a franchise fee and a percentage of profits (if any)? Do I need to hire outa work porn stars too? I am trying to figure out what they are selling that sets them apart from Joes Tanning Salon. OHHHH, wait. Isn't JOES CRAB SHACK a successful chain of restaurants? Guess Joes can be a mighty fine name if the salon has 7 ergoline beds, a mystic and a cal tan sprayer. I might open one with 8 ergoline beds and really kick their asses |

I'll be interested to see if it works in other parts of the country as well. PBT had some pretty big names investing in the beginning of their franchising too. |
