Greg,
I thought Ergoline still had the biggest exhibition space and still was at the show not like other manufacturers. Thereore, I don't think it's Ergoline's fault when ITA will cancel upcoming shows. Maybe you should blame it on the ones that haven't been there?

I agree with Ziti and Phattmatt. The same place is boring, not to mention the biggest lotion company doesn't have any new stuff to show. It needs to be better orchestrated.

Perhaps having it AFTER September would help lend itself to the goo/bed manufacturers being able to show off their new lines that obviously were not ready in time for this early show.

Here's the thing...those that have been going for years thought it sucked....those, like me, who it was their first time thought it was great! I got some good products to try, bottles, samples, but I got more to network with others, and to me that I more important than the free bottles of lotion you used to get. Ever booth I went to I was greated and spoken too...As I stated in another thread, I think the past needs to be forgotten and the present and future needs to be in our thoughts of where we want the industry to go. I had a great time there and plan to go back. You only have as much and learn as much as what you put into it...IMO. I also think the ITA should charge more for yearly membership and include 2 free tickets to the show to their members. That would be my idea.

They have the dates for the next 4 years already posted...I hope that they would be more prepared...Like they don't know when the show is. Come on...they have time.

I think that a thread like this should not be posted unless you know this to be true. This is how rumors start. I guess we all know who the "gossip queen" is.

TanToday has been on the online forum to "scoop" the stories before they hit the mainstream industry. The problem, if you can call it that, is that sometimes its just that - Rumor. But sometimes, and I mean sometimes, its real based on real quotes and you can say you heard it here 1st.

Time will tell if Greg is right.

Greg why are you so interested anyway? You didn`t go to the show and to stay home and post something you know nothing about it just not right. Most of you posting in the negative tone do not know anything about the ITA. All you want to do is put them down.

Maybe when Rick gets home he will fill us in on what is REALLY happening.
The show has NOT been canceled for 2009. Alan, there is a scoop.

However, there are many possibilities being discussed, many of which have been discussed here before. The ITA show was again a success and was profitable.

One thing I will never understand is the fact that many people take great joy in the possible demise of the industry's only trade organization.

Is the organization perfect? No.
Can the organization satisfy everyone? No.
Will the organization improve? Yes, with a lot of work.

The organization would be much better off if everyone supported it and rallied around it, rather that hoping for it's demise.

Thank you for this. People seem to take great joy lately in coming on here and proclaiming ITA dead or shows canceled. What else do we have?? If you are not supporting the ITA, what the hell are you doing to support the industry? And if you don't like the industry and/or think we are all going out of business soon, what the hell are you still doing here? I agree this ITA needs to do more and be more - but if you guys all stand around pissing and moaning about it and not helping, what exactly do you expect?

Look on the bright side, if ITA only has a show every other year. Greg will only make stupid comments every other year!

Why is everyone getting bent out of shape? Greg didnt say anything different about the ITA than what he has said about tanning salon owners in the past. What's the big deal?

Aint it the truth. It would almost be worth having the show every 10 years.

This "Information" that was being discussed at the show.

People that are not at the show are intrested in what is happening and being talked about at the show.

I never said it was true.

Did everyone forget that I ran for a seat on the ITA board several years ago?

Lets calm down and see what happens.

Thanks for chiming in on the subject. I was hoping you would.

There are many in this industry that flat out dont like the ITA regardless of what "good" they do. Things said on here isnt anything that hasnt been said to Overstreet already. The vast majority of salon owners dont see the value or dont know the ITA exists as evident by the lack of a good percentage of salon owners being ITA members. And many think what the ITA did to essentially kill off the Vegas show was in very poor judgement. They surely didnt make any friends by their actions.

But, like you say, they are the only thing in town (per their own plans) and you can either support them or not. I think the Berman campaign was a start in the right direction and hopefully salon owners will continue to fund it along with the manufacturers. Time will tell but I am betting the ITA will be around for much longer then some think.

Don't stop there, they also killed off the Looking Fit show in Chicago too.

Did the ITA receive any financial benefit from the Vegas or Chicago shows? If not then they did what we all attempt to do every day and that is to gain as much market share as possible.

Today's Image was one of their decent sized donors if memory serves me right.

They WERE the Vegas tanning show then all of a sudden, the ITA hosts one around the same time and people gotta chose. I could see if they were going to continually run a Vegas show after the fact but do one at the same time, TI folds up then you go back to Nashville knowing that you are truly the only show in the industry. Maybe that was their goal. I for one would like to get a straight answer about it all and I support the ITA. It doesnt mean I agree with them about everything though nor should anyone about anything.
