I only use cosmedico vhr's 160w in my level 3 beds which consist of ovations and uwe cps and are timed for 15 minutes each. i have plenty of power 240 per bed ( which is more then recommended ) new acrylics and new lamps which read at 42-48 on the 5.0 uvb meter.
however my darker customers are not satisfied completely and i have the best reputation around and want to keep it so which lamps should i change to? 9k90 or the cosmulux TT or perhaps the high tan? let me also say that i have 9k90's in my sundazzlers and everyone loves the 11 minutes in those standups but they have almost no UVB so why then do all the lamp companies and my techs tell me to go to a higher UVB lamp? your thoughts? ps.. my customers are mostly foreign and olive skinned |

The TTs are winners in the Ovations but at 15min I would do the 9K90 in that bed. Also these beds eat through lamps in 450hrs max so if you are letting the VHRs go longer than that it maybe that you are just letting them go too long.
Again, at 15min I'm surprised they are complaining as I run this same bed at 12min with no complaints. Actually people love the bed. |

Thank you engfant ( what the heck does that stand for ? lol )
which lamps do you use though for 12 minutes? the TT's? and isn't yours a 15 minute max? also do you have 400 watt facials in them as well? thats the biggest complaint I get from my ovation and my tech suggests i change them out to 800 watts but heartland warned me not to.. |

you can't chance the face lamps. They are what they are. This bed initially came in 10/12/15/20min setups. I got the 12min with the VHRs/HiTans which I cannot recommend as I think HiTans are for grilling not tanning.
At 15min the VHRs should be fine but if you need an extra kick there are other lamps (not cosmedico) that will kick some arse. You can go with LSI HPS which are the Lightsource version of the 9K90 lamp with more UVB. I live by these lamps and started with Cosmedico and swore I'd never change from them. You can do the LSIHPs or the New Technology equivalent or there's even a lamp by the company SUPRA that supposedly is the daddy mac of lamps. Not a 15min deal I don't think but they might have a 15min version. Bottom line LSIHPs will not disappoint. Never have never will. They'll outlast a VHR by about 100hrs also. At 15min you should be 600hrs no problem before they look like trash and perform as such. |

good to know.. i only went with the regular vhr's because s-class uses them in their 12 minute bed so i figured why not put the same lamps in a 15 minute bed but apparently its not the science i thought it was.. then again i failed science every year..

i run 9k90's at 15 minutes in my ergo 650...love em! tt's might work best at 11 or 12 runs...
i havent tried supra's...too much uvb for 15 minutes i thought...but would work awesome at 11-12 min's...(and less) hear lightsource hp's awesome too, but i stuck with 9k90's...at 15 min's. love the low uvb... |

I had this similar problem, I started alternating bulbs. Hp type bulbs next to a bulb with a little more b kick. Customers love it , TT next to a 9k90 if you like cosmedico. Best of both worlds!!!

They are in my quickest stand up HT60 8 min stand time. HT was having more use the same bulb in both my 8 and 10 minute stand up. Just 6 less of them(made no sense to me).
and yes I am a Hollywood franchisee for now!!!!

yeh i never understood the standup theory.. you pay more to buy a machine that is stronger so you charge more but its faster so they are in it for less time which pretty much means they get the same tan but pay more.. should they not be the same price?

We have a CPS. New to us a few months back and lamped w/ new 9K90's w/ 12 min max tan time. OK results per client feedback: though the IPD was decent but not enough DPD. Pulled the 9K90's and relamped w/ Supras--complete turnaround. Clients much happier--yes even those particular olive skinned peeps. Great browning w/ just the right kick and shift UVB a nice compliment to the spags--at 12 minutes max.
No plug for anyone. I empathize your concerns thus compelled to reply as I was in your situation. Hope this helps. Good luck. ![]() |
