Maybe the correct lingo should be PTA "per tan average".

Per sale average still sounds like it should be giving the transaction average.

It would be simpler to explain to someone else, but as long as you understand it on your print out it doesn't matter.

At the end of the month, the PSA is the number I am looking at. I want to know how much people spent EACH TIME they came in...not how much a person spent over the course of the month. Thats not very accurate because someone could have bought a $100 package, but never upgraded or bought lotion.

We finally realized this after a couple of months of looking at the wrong numbers!
Same here.

Hey John, I noticed you have only been going to a base bed, for just a few dollar upgrade you can go to our xyz bed and explain the benefits.
That's how you put money in the drawer, regardless of what kind of bed you have.

We have a monthly staff meeting, it is mostly about sales.
Continious training, new ideas, recognizing the highest employees PSA and rewarding them.

If a client passes my counter, Hi John, bed 7, I'll pull a Trump on them faster than they can bat their eye.
They never know when I am watching the camera, many times I'll be at one salon watching another salon on my laptop, my employee's see that and know it.
Thats funny I AM NOT MY GIRLS. my salon per client average is always over $10 we have sold 49 bottles of lotion this month. My upgrades are my most used beds.

I know I sold sandi a bottle of lotion monday I see it in her hand, I know she has eyewear I also see that in her hand. I know that she uses bed 4 has for 4 years, I know she goes 12 minutes. I know she drives a grey honda and tans 3 days a week at 5 pm. I know that with ALL my clients and part of that is we have good retention.

Really. I have a sick memory and it works to my advantage

And if it falls below $10 I cut my girls hours and hire other ones. They dont get their commissions unless it stays above $10 ALL YEAR.

Seriously...once you have sold the client the lotion and the package on your best bed, do you think they want a freakin sales pitch every time they walk in the door? You think you are going to keep them coming back that way? If I had someone trying to sell me something every time I walked in the door to go in for a relaxing tanning session, I think I would find somewhere else to tan.

(That was to perfecttan - not you Tiff)

I pay my commission weekly.
I can't expect $10 in slow season, I shoot for $8 which we are not getting right now, but close enough I'm not complaining.

I always feel like we have something the client doesn't have, after tan, twilight teeth, ect.

We have a mandatory rule, you have to try to sell each client something.

I'm not talking about high pressure selling, I would fire someone for that.
It's called suggestive sales.
If I lose a client or 2 because of it, so be it, look at how many sales I may have lost had we not mentioned it.

However your PPA is not THAT great. $10 should always be the average. I prefer to see it at $13+

It may not be that great, but its about the best we can get.
There is no way we can maintain in off season what we get in busy season.

It could be higher if we offered HP and sunless booth, we do airbrush.
Personally I don't believe the expense would justify it, but that's just me.

How many EFT'S do you have on file, if you don't mind me asking?
I am asking because my lowest package is $30, which means you would need 3 EFT clients versus 2 clients on my smallest package.
Convince me, I am open minded.

Little over 350

3 canceled this month but they met the terms of the agreement and they will be back in the spring

We have a 6 month $29.99 and a year $19.88

The $10 is an intro thing.... they go to $19.88 at the first of the year.

With those contracts I can see it possibly working, with that volume.
Here we cannot do contracts, too many competitors that offer no contract.
I would simply see it as use, abuse, cancel.

That may work fine till your competitors start offering 18.88, no signup fee, no committment, cancel anytime.
If it has not happened there, it will.
That is the problem with EFT.

So she signed up, bought a bottle of black (15% off), a pair of podz, and posted $10 in credits to her account which I matched giving her $20
