I came in late..... so maybe someone that was there for the entire session came explain more....but from what I gathered....Matt Russell is wanting ALL SALONS to advertise Vitamin D and its benefits with tanning on Feb 1st.
SO..... MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!! Lets get together and do this!!!!!! Anyone care to share any info on this...PLEASE DO! I plan to run ads in paper and radio ads every hour! Hopefully Matt and the gang can get us some good ones! ![]() |

That was my question...are they supplying us with the info for ads? I would be nervous about supplying my own copy because I don't want to say something that would get us in trouble.

D-Day... What a perfect name...
Because if you think about it, tanning is AT WAR with the derms.. we're in the fight of our lives so to speak, and I applaud the use of the analogy equating our industry's fight with D-Day.. In fact if you watch some actual footage from D-Day .. it may look like the soldiers are saying this and that about war being hell.. like "GET THOSE ----ers" ...or ... "THIS IS WAR!" ... but if you look closely enough, what they're actually saying "THIS IS TANNING!" as they storm the beach. So, yeah.. bravo.. |

Yes I am glad some one brought this up!
EVERYONE PROMOTE THIS! EVEN IF IT IS ONLY IN STORE ADVERTISING!!!! Start a month ahead of time getting the word out! Maybe a "free Vitamin D tan day" Feb1st.... get the word out, get our current clients to bring in new clients to our salons! Since they can try our salons out for free that day on the premis of Vitamin D production (instead of just a tan). EVERYONE GET TOGETHER!!! get yourself and your local competitors to co-op in on advertising at your local radio station.... Instead of a particular salon being advertised just advertise all day long D-DAY! Free Tans all day, (just go to a participating salon near you) bring your friends so you can BOTH get some VITAMIN D, This is Febuary! (winter). You don't it anywhere near enough until you come see US!! yadda yadda yadda.... This will work on spreading the message about VitaminD and getting NEW tanners! And before I get negative comments on ppl going to several salons all in one day, that WON'T happen! If EVERYONE educates our clients properly on the get go (wait at least 24hrs, but 48 hours is recommended between sessions and why).... Again lets all work together, not apart.... no one wins Last edited by fabugurl; 17th October 2009 at 04:25 PM.. Reason: missed something |

Sheri...from my understanding at the session they have press kits that you will receive with your contribution. There are viral videos, PSA's, tv commercials, print ads billboard ads, media tips, among other things. They have different levels to contribute, the highest being $10,000 going on down to $1,000. You can also make a contribution of any amount and you will receive a D-Day Campaign Kit.
They passed out a form that you could fill out, I'm looking for it right now...yeah I didn't fill it out there, my husband about choked when he saw the $10,000 on the paper...lol |

I know we all are from different parts of the country/world but, Feb. kicks starts my season. I feel Vit. D Month should be more like Nov, Dec,Jan. IMHO. Hey, the sun is sparse and far away at that time, shouldn't we try to get them inside sunshine during that time????

I was thinking about this recently- wasn't this Smart Tan's idea, presented in Nashville? I haven't heard any more of it. I think it's a good idea, but only if EVERYONE does something.

well im tired of the promote vit d stuff. i tan to look brown bronze or whatever. i can care less about getting vitamin d from a tanning bed. and i think customers are the same way, they want to tan for aesthetics, not for vitamin d, well except those that tan in high b beds for medical reasons. vitamin d is highly unlikely gonna save this industry unfortunately.. sorry
