The companion thread over at Squawk has been taken down haha.

I did see that the Magazine said Tan Talk the other day when I looked.

Can Looking Fit confirm this award?

Does anybody else think it was a little self-serving and narcissistic for Vince to award himself the "Lifetime Achievement" AND the "Favorite Website" Industry Choice awards?

Jerry Deveney, Greg Henson, Susan Miller and Don Smith were also nominated for Lifetime Achievement, and Designer Skin, Devoted Creations, Ergoline and Performance Brands for Favorite Website.

I can understand the "Favorite Website" trophy for IST because, content wise, it is certainly richer than any bed or lotion website (in spite of annoying filler articles like "Foods Your Dog Should Never Eat" in every issue.

However, I think Vince jumped the shark with his self-aggrandizing awarding of the "Lifetime Achievement" trophy to himself. It just doesn't pass the smell test. Maybe it is just the way the votes tallied, and if so, I think Vince should have recused himself. It just seems to diminish the accolades for the other Industry Choice Award winners.

An appropriate analogy might be Looking Fit's "Top 250" Tanning Salon Award. It is a nice "attaboy" for a salon owner and their staff to win the plaque, and it certainly sounds more prestigious than if the owner had declared himself The Best Tanning Salon in (fill in a state) and called the newspapers. I think the salon owner's local peers would have a good laugh at the absurdity of a masturbatory "Best Salon" award. I suspect the folks at Looking Fit and Tanning Trends are laughing about this.

Vince didn't need to go there. The trophy would have looked just as nice on his bookshelf if it said, "Best Dad In The World."

I'm still having MAJOR problems figuring out the AG Accelerator winning...I was shocked to see it nominated! Anyone notice that almost all the lotion winners are New Sunshine products (AG, DS, etc)? I hear more about Devoted these days than I do about any of those. Oh well, congrats to them anyway!

Movieking: I can't open the e-mag link... but look here:

Island Sun Times Then click Breaking News at the top - and you will see exactly what I posted: TanToday not TanTalk.

Wierd!

I see that too. In print its T-Talk and online its T-Today. Weird indeed. The other categories I skimmed over look like they match.

I was the one to announce it over there. I read it in my issue of Island Sun Times that was mailed to me in print. Maybe when they were editing the site from last year the two sound so much alike they thought it didn't need to be changed which is more likely then getting it wrong in print. I didn't know they took down my thread, I'll have to check on that. lol

Will have to go mess with it now....

I don't post bull$h!t. The mag and on line mag show the winner. The on line Breaking news page is incorrect.

It is no longer Tan Squawk. We have new management, new direction, and pulling ahead of the rest. The people have spoken, now it;s time to give them what they want.

Brian sorry bud but it will always be Tan Squawk IMO. You being over there doesn`t change that. People come and go on both sites. That is just the way it is. Congratulations on winning. All it means is people over there worked harder to get the votes. I will say some of the other winners are a joke.

That for sure. We had someone just the other week trying to get in the PF with only 1 or 2 post. The address she gave for her salon I checked on google and it was actually a 3 bedroom, house.

I don`t know if people don`t have the money to actually open a salon or if they think with all the Sun Scare going on they will jump on the band wagon and get rich. A person could get into sunless sprays for around 200.00 so why not give it a try.

I have to ask; "just what does that IST award get ya anyway, other then bragging rights. Like Ezliving said, just a little bit funny and a lot flawed.
