Default Cameras - anyone try X10?

Looks like security cameras should now be considered standard equipment in a salon and I'm getting in with that crowd. I was looking at the X10 site and was interested in the technology. I love the idea of wireless cameras with no wires snaking around, and fiddling with ceiling tiles to connect camera to DVR. Has anyone tried them, and do they do the job? I'm looking at something like this. ...

"You get what you pay for" couldn't be more true regarding camera systems. The best cameras in the world use wired data connections because they're more reliable.

A quality 4 camera system installed by a pro shouldn't cost you less than $1000 IMO.

I'm looking into getting a system myself but the 2 bottles that get stolen a year don't warrant a 1000 price tag. I had looked at some systems at sams for about 300 bucks. agk453 - Can you record with that system? Looks like maybe just live streaming which could be a problem.

Apparently the software will do recording either directly or through motion detection.
Based on Island Sun's review tho I'll look deeper before jumping.

I picked up a webcam. Yup, a plain old webcam for $150. I am not using it now, but when I did it was great. I used it mainly to monitor lotion on the front counter. The software, EvoPro, had the ability to overlay "motion sensors". So while it had pretty much the entire foyer in frame, the camera would start recording only when there was movement in the smaller motion area, such and the sample bowl or lotion displays, but record the entire area. Even better yet, it would "back record" 30 seconds, or whatever set to, up to the trigger event.

Multiple trigger areas could be set. The video could be inverted, adjusted, etc. And it could post the videos online instantly, e-mail them or just alert that it caught something.

Good system. Only problem is that the camera is FireWire and it requires a constant connection to a computer for the software.
