High-pressure equipment is available in traditional beds or standup versions, which offers myriad choices when it comes to planning space. Tanning salon owners are continuing to purchase high-pressure units so as to offer a more diverse mix of tanning options for their customers. A tanner in this type of mix often is encouraged to rotate between the high-pressure and low-pressure units in order to maintain a deeper, darker tan, as well as maintain optimal levels of vitamin D.
Since little or no vitamin D is produced by wavelengths higher than 315 nm, high-pressure alone is not an effective system for producing this important vitamin. This is one reason some salons have clients who alternate between high-pressure and low-pressure systems. Tanning in both systems gives the tanner the best benefits and features of both lamp types.
I guess then Solarmeters vitamin D meters don't work? LOL This is very incorrect.. How would my clients get dark even on my old ultrabronze, skin type 2 white whites and don't use anything but Hp if there was no UVB.

Apparently this article has been published every year for a few years, however read the addition at the bottom of this article and how it contradicts itself:
High-Pressure Equipment
Technical Aspects

Some anti-tanning individuals have stated that the fact that UVA1 wavelengths penetrate more deeply into the skin that there is the potential for collagen damage. First of all, there is no evidence to support this contention and it must be remembered that the wavelengths penetrating the deepest into the skin are the visible (400 nm-700 nm) and the near-infrared (700 nm-1,000 nm) and the infrared (1,000 nm-4,000 nm). Therefore, if UVA1 wavelengths are harmful, then visible and infrared photons also must be harmful and, once again, there is no credible medical evidence to support his contention.
Moreover, since recent research shows that there is enough UVB present in the typical high-pressure system to stimulate the production of both melanin and vitamin D, this fact will also stimulate the acceptance of high-pressure tanning systems by both tanning salon owners and clients alike.

That quote can also be found in a 5/2009 article
High-Pressure Equipment

Sorry about my confusion. Tan today is the best place to learn. So your close to skin type 1 customers can get a tan in your HP units?

I am considering finally upgrading to having a hp unit. Most customers i profile are hesitant about the price, in our area $40 a tan or more. Thankyou for your input, all signs are pointing to buying one...

well SS, have them consider the price of a drop in on a base unit. then times that by 6. Bet its more than one HP session. Then take 6 packets of of lotion and add up the price, obviously more than one packet. someone starting out tanning from no tan would need to go aproximately 6 times on a base unit to equal the browning of an HP unit, and 3-4 times on a VHR or Standup. Do the math, show them the savings. Plus, I tell them they would need to come at least 3 times per week for a month on vhr and stand up, and every other day for a month on base bed, but only 3-5 sessions on an HP (done every other day). maintenance is 1-3 times per month or every 10-15 days is a good number. base is 2-3 times per week and vhr and stand up 1-2 times per week. Add up the lotion use per month. One bottle per month-l.5 months average on base and vhr and 3-4 months on HP

show that to customers. Plus their skin is softer, no leather hide bag look.

benefits to you....... less lease space, one unit can acomidate more DIFFERENT clients per month, less units to relamp , clean etc.

An old style 2021 with low b glass will produce 4000-6000 iu's of d in a 24 minute session.A magic with slightly agressive mug 6 will produce 2-3 times that.So HP will definatly create D3.
