sounds good.. i like the sun scam ad. I have tan friendly (DMX) and they run two tanning 30 sec ads and then three songs.
Does your system only play one channel. If so that would be a problem since everyone doesn't like the same kind of music.
DMX uses the Profusion X box for its variety of music. I currently get four channels from my DMX profusion X box. I believe they charge me like 70 bucks a month for the service and if the profusion x goes up they send me out a rebuilt one.
They download new songs on my profusion x every month along with new commercials.
The commercials are from the major lotion lines of which I can get a rebate back for to help with the monthly fee

Hi all,

Im not offering a system or music. I want to give you all of the info and links to set up your own equipment.

I would like to Personalize your production to make it sound like your Salon Radio Staion.

Let me work on an info page to put it all together. As I have said, I have been wanting to do this for years [offer to other salons]. It's the coolest way to have audio in your salon. It really sets an image for my salon and is important to me as making sure the beds are clean..lol

I really believe it is one of the best forms of advertising and promotion we do.

If you like the demo and is somthing you want for your salon...it's not hard to do. It is a small project to setup and maintain, but has great benefits.

I'm going to say about $300 to get it going [ if you have a computer already] that's ballpark

Again, let me put that info page to together to get some real figures and work involved

thanks!

Question Re: Music in the Salon

I liked your productions but how do you get around the fees or legal aspect to play the audio from the mp3. I have purchased the cd's but was told from the local radio station that i could not play in salon or even thier radio station because of the royalties to the artiest? what would the cost of ads run? my email is shakeandbake73401@hotmail.com

Ah yes, Royalities. True, it is not legal to play the radio or play your cd's in your place of business without a BMI license.

We wouldn't want Beyonce to be cheated out of her cut, now would we?

It is a victimless crime and you must decide if it is something you want to do. Here is the website and pfd file for information.

BMI.com | Retail Establishments
http://www.bmi.com/forms/licensing/gl/rtl.pdf

I will not give you any items that would be copywrited. I will have all the information about "your salon radio station project" up very soon

Hey Kathe. I like your set up. Can you give me the name of the system so I can go to Radio Shack and inquire. Have you had any issues with the headphones due to sanitation? Even if you clean them with disinfectant, do any of your clients have an issue with them?

I would prefer to have headphones over speakers to control the cacophony. I don't want radios anymore.

Thanks.

What is involved with a BMI license? Maybe it is something that is worth the one time purchase over the long run.

Your own in-house radio station....

your music
your commericals [even sell commercials to local business]
your cool id's
automated dj
PSA's -- "vitamin d health"
News reports-- "positive sun messages"

A full sound of a real radio staion! It will sound just as slick as your local #1 station in the area.

What you will need...

-A computer..or use your office computer.[ can be an older one ]
-A program
-A connection [one wire- mini plug to RCA] from this computer to your amp that feeds all the rooms
-All of the recorded items for your salon Radio Station [this is where I come in]

I will post a link to some examples of my recorded stuff ASAP

Anyone like the idea?
I LOVE IT!! We currently just have radios in each room.

What about the BMI license? It seems that if this trend for in store music continues to grow, this is going to become a major issue.
I doubt they care about a radio in a room, but to use music without a license, and add your own commercials to it, seems to be too exposed to legalities.

The website and links to the license info is in the above post. $207 per year will will cover most salons. Read the pdf file. Every salon owner is encouaged to buy the yearly license from BMI, no matter what music source they have playing in the salon.....Radio, satellite, cd's, ipod, internet radio are all illegal without a BMI license.

We currently use handheld mini mp3 boomboxes they pick up at the front counter. We change the music themes on them about once a month.

Gary I just now saw this thread. My first impression is I love it!

They discontinued them so they're getting harder to find. The last one I got on ebay was a dud.

The best thing about them is the sound. I"m working on a new idea but the sound still isn't as good on the new option.
