I have any opportunity to purchase a Mystic Blue Box, year 2004 at a great price. The session count is 3200.
Question is 3200 count on the low side or high side for the unit being 5 years old. The unit is not being used at the moment, everything is still put together ready to go. It does look like some of the clear tubing will need to be replace just for the fact that it is 5 years old. This will be my first endeavor into spray tanning. For all you Spray Tan aficionados out there, do you have any words of wisdom in getting this up and running fast and efficiently. The room that I have set aside for this has dedicated power but no plumbing yet. Thanks in advance. |

Well that session count is very, very low and looks to be very new unit.
You will need to add the drainage that you can run up the wall to your false ceiling and into the drain for you washing machine wherever that is. Easily done with PVC. You will also need a dedicated location for the compressor and run an air line from that. As far as the unit the main problems are the plastic valves and the meters. Learn how to rebuild the meters which go out every 1-2yrs and save yourself LOTS of money. Takes only about 45 min to do. |

i have a 2004 blue box myself...actually 2 of them. all i've had to do is replace the meter cylinders twice...i buy them now for $31 each and stock them. its still a huge money maker for me. and now...mystics are going so cheap. i paid $30,000 new for mine...and what less than $3000 now. i highly recommend adding one. you'll need the instructional video to show each client...i use a flat panel tv in my lobby to do this. you can use mystics solution which they just reduced the price to $195 for their premium bronzer or go to different company. i kinda recommend you go with mystic at first...as maybe buying direct from them...will also get you some free advice when you first get it going. you should also offer mystics hypertan packets and 6oz tubes at the very least.

i also reccommend having the air compressor stored away from the unit. they are extremely loud! i enclosed mine with 2" styrofoam leaving air vents for it to breathe...totally enclosed it. built a box if you will....to cover it...muffles the noise.
i get my hair nets at gordans food service...i also keep a box of wet wipes in the room for clients to wipe off the bottom of their feet and palms of their hands to prevent these area's from discoloring. you'll need the barrier creme as well for the room from mystic. |

The room is right next to the washer and dryer so the plumbing will not be a problem. The room size is 8'x14' so room size should not be a problem.
I just have to add better lighting to the room. The room was the bodywrap / massage room at one time so you have the mood lighting. Planned on installing flat panel for that video. Before this opportunity arose I was going to install a 42" so in the slow times I can watch Hulu.com on it (great series of movies are now on). The solution that they are currently using is the Mystic Bronze Myst Ultimate Premimum. It is in the 5 gal jug. and 3/4 is still remaining. Not sure why, could not ask because person did not know what the second container was for. The container was white was about 20 or 30gl in size with lines running from it. Why divide the 3200 in half is this because of the cycling between the two passes the unit uses? Is this unit difficult to disassemble and reassemble? I am going to clean this thing with a fine tooth comb before anyone gets in it. I am looking to have this unit ready to go no later then Thanksgiving weekend. I can then run a Black Friday sale on it. |

i'd make sure the solution is'nt too old. it oxidizes rather quickly. basically turns green when exposed to air.
the other tank is for sanitizer...which mine has never worked. difficult to disassemble? i did my last one alone...bought it used. i used short 2x4's and a plastic mallet from home depot. used duct tape and sharpee;s to mark everything i took apart. you'll need more rubber ahh, the gasket stuff to re-assemble which can be bought at home depot and use a screen repair tool to install it after each panel is re assembled. hardest part may be entering it to your pc and software.??? a special tmax is used on mine. |

pound off the top first...then sides...keep the wall that has all the components on it, totally intact. a bit heavy to move alone. try to keep most walls together...pounding them apart at the corners.

Don't forget to sell/supply nose filters and eye protection. Be responsible and educate your spray tanners on the importance of protecting their mouth, eyes, and nose/lungs.
If anyone complains about tan lines from the goggles, remind them it's a SPRAY ON TAN! Simply remove the goggles and use your finger to spread the overspay over the strap lines and blend close to the eyes.

Ditto...been doing Mystic since '03 and have not had one single issue of a client breathing in too much or anything of that nature. Oh, and just close your eyes.....what is the need for eye protection...don't tell me it can penetrate your eyelids

awhile back i recall the news companies secretly coming in to check salons on how they advise their clients on mystic use. we have to recommend they keep their eyes shut to reduce the possibility of solution being sprayed directly into their eyes...or wear the goggles. then, to keep their breathing to a minimum, or stuff cotton up their nose and breath thru that. the nose plugs and eyewear simply a recommendation, not mandatory. there have been how many people sprayed with no incidents? millions!!

I'm not saying you should supply them free, but you should make them available unless you wanna see yourself on the news or in "investigative" reporting. Just my $0.02. Do what you want, but this busy season is going to be an absolute nightmare for salons who don't cover their asses. For the record, I don't have a Mystic and don't do spray tanning. But if I ever went to salon that told me it was okay to breath the solution as long as I don't breathe a lot and I didn't have a nose filter option or I was told to hold my breath...I certainly wouldn't tan there.

Trying to finalize the transaction and get this thing going.
Does anyone now of a mystic tech in the SF Bay area that can disassemble and transport the unit to my location. Assembly will take place about 1 week later for I want to throughly clean this unit before I will allow someone in it. |
