Well.... see what the new ones read at 238 hours too - so you'll know if they are aging any better. Hopefully so.

Old: 3.6% UVB (for anyone who cares). Te = 240 / 13.2 = 18.2 min to 4 MEDs.

New: 37% more browning rays on the 5.0. 3.4% UVB. Te = 240 / 18.2 = 13.2 min to 4 MEDs.

Note that new has less percent B but more amount of B. Hence more MED/hr too.

If you care how much UVA there is subtract the 6.0 from 5.0 reading. Nobody does this however... except maybe Don as part of his mysterious Tt formula.

Are you a 'meterhead' yet? Getting closer. Is this the leg tanner that doesn't tan between legs?

Jim's does NOT have the WALT (Wrap-Around Leg Tanning)

he went the Midget Tanner route

Sparky:

sufwerD (Drewfus) did the "field research" on the WALT with some help (according to him) of a guy from Chicago.

Jim.... is this the thing? It says 10 min session with the lamps that come in it. Your new lamps are 13 minute Te.

Quote:
Specifications for 164/4:
Lamps: 36 DuraSun Legacy 85W reflector lamps
100W choke ballast system
Cooling Fans: 11 interior fans
1 - 550CFM body cooling fan
Breaker: 20 AMP
Voltage: Single phase 220 Volts
Sessions: 10 Minutes
Dimensions: 57"L x 31"W (Unit only)
80"L x 31"W (Unit with chair)
Weight: 350 LBS.
Construction: Steel frame
Color: White/yellow accents
Warranty: 3 Year Limited
Buck Booster may be required.
So.... either it never was a 10 min system... or your new lamps are "weaker" than OEM new ones - whatever those were. My guess is the original ones were never 10 min because after only 238 hours they were 18 min!

Then again, it might be hard to set the meters in "shin position" I suppose.

Yes that is it ,it was 10 mins..

There are really not that many replacements for the unit since it is 42.5 but I will see if John is up to it to come on and discuss

Heartland leg tanner with new STOCK lamps at 20Hrs.
This is from the acrylic pointing up
5.0 35
6.0 1.41 = 3.9%uvb
7.0 19.6 = 12.2 Min

At 120 Hrs
5.0 33.5
6.0 1.27 = 3.9%
7.0 17.1 = 14 Min

So at body level it should yeild a 10 or 11 min tan time. The bench should of course be around 9 or 10 minute tan time due to the proximity of lamps to the body. Keep in mind that these SHORT lamps are driven by an 80W ballast so lamp life is on the shorter side. Much shorter lamp then a F59 lamp that is usually run at with an 80W ballast.

Might be better off top dropping every 150-200 hrs.
