Default Lamps out......

Had 2 lamps out on my 15 min. Tan America, the end was black and had a small hole in it. First time I have seen that, is that common?

Wrong lamp for the application is my guess. Which TA Bed & which lamp?

I've seen it many times on lamps that should not be used in a TA unit because of the crappy magnetic ballast.

What lamp? What does the bed call for? And the rapid start ballasts they use chew up lamps. I have seen holes in lamps before. They could fix the problem by using a ballast designed for indoor use instead of the outdoor sign ballast they use. But they cost a little more.

I am having a few issues with my lamps. One of my 100w lamps is almost on, but does not fully come on. The lamps has the ends lit up, however the middle part of it is not coming on. It sounds odd, but thats exactly whats happening. I changed the lamp, and the started and to the same results.

2. I have one other lamp in one bed that is not coming on at all. I was under the impression that on the lay down beds the ballast is in charge of 2 lamps not just one, and only one is out. I changed this along with the starter, and tried a working lamp and this area is not working at all for this one lamp.

Any help!!!!!!!!

if you have a starer then it is 1 lamp per ballast..
the center not lighting up could be a slow leaker lamp or just a lamp that has been sitting cold for a long time.. what starter as there are some cheap copies out there? Also could be a capacitor but that would depend on the bed..

The lamp that is partially on, i tried another lamp in the same spot and same results. Its partially on. The lamps are very new as i just changed the bed 2 months ago.

The starters are cosmedic and philips. Cosmedic is K12 and Philips is S12. I tried both in the bed and tried various lamps and still the lamp would not come on.

Are the lampholders black or melted or burnt?

You should be able to meter the ballast and see the power at the ballast. Could be a faulty ballast that just needs to be replaced.

Brian would be your best person to speak with. Maybe he can walk you through it.

You NEVER need an electrician. They dont understand tanning beds anyway.

Lamp ends on "bright" and lamp off in the middle is a fried lamp.

unless it is only that way for a while then it warms up...could be cold in your store. Could be excess cooling in parts of the bed.
