Hey John, I called Uri and talked to your young lady sales partner on Monday of this week. She was going to run my question by you and get back to me. Here's my question: I have Soltron beds, Touchdowns, Hot Peppers and Waves. I have received new lightsource lamps from you and are gettiing ready to change them. Before I do, my question is; are they morning suns going to satisfy my customers like the oem lamps that came with the beds? I know you told me Wisconsin is a regulated state, but I think I could have went with at least a mid-day sun lamp. Soltron equips all their beds the same no matter which state they are being sold in. Please, I need to know before I make a mistake and lose more customers then I already have.

OK John, this is what I got. I got the Wave and I just installed the new LSI signature VHOR series which I got from you. I got a 44-45 meter reading with a 5.0 meter. Today, I installed the LSI morning sun VHOR in my Hot peppers. The hot peppers have the 140 watt ballast driving these 160 watt lamps. I metered these lamps and got a reading of 55. How am I going to sell an upgrade to the Wave, when my lower Hot pepper beds have a better uv reading? I should have used the morning sun VHOR in my Wave instead of the other way around. What am I missing here?[;lYheii aveGOTOHNn

You're missing the UVB reading from a 6.0 meter and/or the MED/hr reading from a 7.0 meter.

You cannot judge how "hot" the lamps are just from the UVA reading on a 5.0. Browning rays - yes. But not reddening rays.

It is common for certain lamps with more UVB to read lower on Total UV... and vise-versa. The phosphors "sacrifice" UVA to get more UVB.

So don't bug poor John unless you know the whole story... or at least 2/3 of the story: 5.0 and 7.0 readings.

I thought by now everyone knew this stuff!

I have both Midday and desert suns. The put reflectors in the Canopy and the regulars in the bench. They have upgraded my base beds so much that I was able to raise the price on them. Everyone loves them.

Cool Re: LightSource Lamps, Beach Sun info, experience needed

So Missy, I have been sold the Morning suns. I just don't think they're going to satisfy my customers' need. The hell with selling upgrades, I'll have to put everything as entry level.

Morning Suns????

Um, if this was 1995 I would be like.."uh, ok...a Cosmolux VHR replacement lamp"

But.....it isn't 1995.....and although the Morning Suns are "true" VHR lamps ...and great for type 2's and type 3's just getting started....their B isn't enough for sunjunkies to appreciate.

And, because it ISN"T 1995.....we have lamps that will do EVERYTHING a Morning Sun will do....AND give you shorter sessions......it is called a SigHP....with 20% more uv-a , even a 20% shorter tan time will give the same browning effects.
