I can't afford the Norvell Overspray booth right now but I did order a tanning tent and I'm wondering if that will look silly/unprofessional in my salon ? I think it's great for mobile and totally professional but I don't know about in the salon.

go to Norvell.com and they have a how to build an inexpensive airbrush over-spray booth. you can print it out. we are about to build one ourselves. or you can go to lowes and buy anything to hang on your wall that will wipe off easily. put a large clear mat (for rolling chairs) on the floor, or anything that can be wiped off.

We have our walls painted with a high gloss paint. It wipes off clean in a jiffy.

Tanning tents are way to small for salon use, great in a mobile setting but do not use it in your salon.
They are dark and make it difficult to see what you are doing. Paint walls gloss paint and get an extractor fan...(box fan with a filter attached) that is better than a pop up tent

I appreciate everyone's replies but I have 1 room where I can do this if I don't use the tent and it is my pedicure room. I have the extraction fan but I'm afraid that overspray will get on my cream colored spa pedicure chair and other decorations. I just don't know how much overspray to expect in the room and I'm afraid to test it in there to see. If I am using a Norvell HVLP system - how much overspray should I see ?

It really depends on how much traffic you see. I have the same HVLP with the norvell booth with exhaust and l think it's still a lot. I would definitely not have furniture in there unless you can remove the upholstery and wash it.

Don't do the tent. I built our overspray booth for about $300 and it works better and I think looks better than the norvell one because it has a larger filter system. If someone is halfway handy they can do it. PM me if anyone wants instructions.

I am taking a dark material that I bought at walmart and making curtain like panel and hang them up on two of the walls. Kind of like a photography place. So I can take them down and wash them every so often. Still waiting on my mother in law to sew them. Soon as I hve the room done I will post a pic I really hope it turns out good.

I agree with the others... The tent really wasn't built for overspray collection in high traffic salon/spas. I'd build your own or buy the norvell one. Even with the best extraction unit, you may still see a small amount of residue if you do alot of spray tans per day.

We built a stall inside one of our rooms. The stall is made of white board. (I'm not sure if thats what its really called- the same stuff that you use dry erase markers on) We have an exhaust through the top of it.
It cleans up nicely because it's so slick and it doesn't stain. |
