Default Spraying heavier people

Hi All:

Just got my sprayer, and I'm having a blast practicing on my friends!!

I have searched & read all the threads in the sunless section, but can't seem to find any advice on this though.

How do you approach spraying someone who is larger? I know that the manuals say to tell the person to put their arms in the air, but for heavy people, that won't get rid of all the folds! I'm trying to figure out a tactful way to instruct them in order for them to get the best results without embarrassing them. Under the butt cheeks isn't too hard, I had my friends turn out their knee and slightly lift their leg, and the fold goes away. But larger women will have an issue with belly fat folds and the area under their boobs.

Anybody with experience or ideas?????

Thanks!

LOL! I lived in FL for 3 years, but never got to go on one!

That would probably get every crack & crevice!!! Just hook the solution up to a fire hose & spray it into the backside - whalaaa - everything on the front side is TAN!!!

Serious though - the only people I've practiced on so far are fairly skinny. I would like to try to develop a way to instruct people for when this situation arises!

OK Brian - would it be rude to ask her to hold them up? Do that area first to let it dry a bit before she lets 'em drop. You could do the bottom half first (I know not normally) - then go back & do the rest of her upper body?

Instead of spraying those areas you could just swab those crevasses with a paint brush.

You can run a Mop and Glow special.

OMG - That was horribly uncalled for!!!!

Besides... I haven't seen that Pine Sol yet.

Serious! Don't tell me you don't have any 'concern' area's! We all do. How do you approach it tactfully?

If you can ask the skinny chicks to lift up their boobs then you can ask the fat chicks to do the same.

Just tell them that you want to get it right because tan fat looks better then white fat.

OK - since Brian posted the pic...

If this person asked you to spray her... what would you tell her in order to get the best results? Disregard the wine bottle hanging from her navel.

You want all of your customers to get the best results, right!

If you want her to get the best results then tell her that Jenny Craig is next door and to come back in two years.

Just be honest and say, "Look, I dont want you to take offence to this but if you want an even tan, you are going to have to get into some strange positions to get everywhere. Is that ok? "

Fat people know htey are fat and are not stupid enough to think you can spray them and get everywhere if they have fat rolls. Why are you so worried about it? IF you are honest with them and come at them with the most open approach, they will not be offended. If they are, then Fakem! Tell them "fine, I will spray you liek this and you will have white spots. If that is fine with you, lets get started!"

Now see, for your friend here, if she came in & said "I have a wedding to go to this weekend, can you make me tan?"... I would suggest just an upper body spray - possibly w/ legs if she was wearing a dress.

Jenny Craig is great... Like you said... 2 years later - I can help NOW!!!!

TQ - that is my normal 'straight forward' personality, and that is how I would have approached the situation. I was just wondering if everyone elses' approach was the same.

Some people call my 'personality' ... bitchy... I don't agree.

It's all in the way you say it. I just was wondering how other 'non bitchy' people would handle the same situation??

Well then don't listen to me. I am the resident "bitch" here! LOL!

Honestly, I just tell it like it is. ALways have and it works for me. Now I do it in a nice way and really am sincere with it so I am not doing it to be mean. I just get to the point. Easier and everyone can move on without being uncomfortable. And I can say that it has never cost me a client. Both in tanning and Real Estate. In fact, I get more business in RE because I am so upfront and honest with people.

More people shoudl be like us!

We approach all of our sprays very professionally. We are the professionals and we speak and act in that manner. We would ask if it is important to them to be tan under their breasts and if so, that is the first place that we spray. We have them place a paper towel over their breasts and then put their hands on top of the paper towel (this protects the top of the breasts from the barrier cream). Then after placing their hands flat across their breast we have them lift up so we can spray underneath. They will continue to hold them up while we spray their legs so the area can dry a bit before they let them down.

If they have different folds we will have them bend in different ways to make sure we get into them all.

They already know they are heavy. By acting professional and straight forward you are treating them with dignity.

Thanks Kathe - that was what I was thinking. I hadn't thought of the paper towel though. Good idea - thank you!

I am having a lot of fun with this. My daughter's friend asked me, and she is heavier. That's what brought up the subject.

Can't wait to do more!!
