Default Skin 'Crackling"

Is sunless tan 'crackling' only with solution that is tinted or is it also possible to develop the 'crackling' with a clear no tint based solution? Some people refer to this as 'lizard skin'

any feedback much appreciated

Thanks Wicked1

thankfully its never occurred with my clients...

I was actually asking because its been happening to me personally on my calves and just noticed it after putting on a solution with a heavy color guide.

I actually exfoliate correctly... very puzzled....

Im going to use clear only next week after shedding the remnants of the lizard skin and see if there's any diff...

Its Maintenence, PH Neutral body wash and a step 3 tan extender whilst you've got your tan on. If you've got a Mymyst booth, pre or post spray skin Replenish or Revitalisation treatments will ensure your tan fades naturally rather than crackle and leathered.. great upsell items.

This has happened to me before. I thought it may have been due to being sprayed too heavily in a certain area. I have found that using my loofah to slough it off/tone it down, reduces the appearance of it.

I would agree that maintenance could play a big part too. But as you said, you are diligent about pre and post care- so who knows.

This happens to me when I keep spraying myself when there is still a little tan left, even if I prep and all that good stuff. Its almost like when you keep painting over chipped nail polish...It keep chipping...I hate going completely white bc its bad for business! When this starts to happen I go to a local salon for a full body exfoliation, I recommend this to my weekly tanners as well. I can exfoliate like crazy but a salon exfoliation is the best. AND sometimes you make great salon contacts or can trade services. Just a thought...

You can develop the 'crackling' with any solution. It's commonly referred to as 'lizard skin'.

If you don't exfoliate or maintain properly, you can develop it regardless of the color of the solution.

I agree with illusiontan. You have to take breaks or get all the tan off every so often.

I try not to let myself go pale as well... Last time I had "lizard skin" I exfoliated with a paste made of baking soda, lemon juice and water to tone it down. Then I used a pre treatment (versaspa amplifier gel) and gave myself a light spray. First time I tried this and worked well... Give it a try... I think the key was just a light enough spray to blend and I've been mositurizing like a crazy lady. It's fading really good, so now I can probably go back to making myself as dark as I usually like!

You know what guys, I come to these forums to try to help people and also to get help. I am under the sunless thread because sunless is my primary business. I am not in any way against UV tanning, I still do it myself and consider all things good in moderation. The fact remains, to stay as dark as I like, I prefer sunless, as do my clients. I work with clients that choose sunless because of skin cancer scares, laser hair removal, body builders, wrinkles, etc. Please don't waste my time by posting silly remarks when people on this sunless board are trying to help. I don't go into your section and bash UV, nor do I do it to my clients or on my website. If your not into sunless, stay outta this section. I bet no one here has time to go through your useless remarks.

all i said was to go in a tanning bed if you want to look dark and can't do sunless because you have to give your skin a break from sunless or you will look all funky as it cakes onto your skin and look like lizard skin.

I too offer sunless at my salon, whether you are 100% sunless or not, you want to look tanned for your clients and you have to give your skin a rest from the sunless.....so like i said before, your answer is, go in a tanning bed.

So don't put me in a category of others when you say "guys". Thank you.

I think there were many other answers and the problem was solved. Many people take multiple times in a tanning bed to get as tan as sunless, so that really wouldn't work. As for guys, I was really directing a majority of my comments elsewhere, as per rude comments above. I see this happening in alot of threads and it is a big waste of time. That's my whole point, not trying to pick a fight, just trying to get you "guys" to stop wasting people's time

good story and the point was that i was responding to kgg, the person that asked the question. There are alternatives to just getting sunless in order to build a tan if she has to lay off the sunless. And i gave her the answer. Otherwise, live with the whiteness.

Whether you were 100% sunless wasn't really a factor as it wasn't you that asked the question it was kgg and she got the answers, what she does with them after that is up to her. Don't come on here telling people to stay out of "your" section and to stick to their own after 5 posts.

As for getting just the answers and that's it....well, that will make for a dull forum. You're bound to get some controversy.

As for tanning multiple times in a tanning bed to get a tan....that wouldn't work. Why wouldn't it work? Go multiple times and get a tan....

Some people don't get a dark tan after a couple times, we're just not that lucky. I didn't say it was my forum it's the sunless and there is always bashing in here about turning orange and just go to a bed. It would be fun if there were no bashing. Have a question, get an answer. I've only posted five times, because that's all the questions i needed to ask or felt like I could answer. I don't waste time with posts I don't have any reason to stick my nose in. The only reason I keep responding is because my email goes to my phone. That is what I mean by wasting time in these forums. Its sophmoric and silly and still proves interesting without witless banter. Now if you'll pardon me I'm done wasting my time with this and I hope the original poster has found her answer whether it includes your solution or not. Even though I think the first thing she would think of would be going to a bed. The problem with that is you can't really show your clients how the sunless will look, because you are not representing it, you are representing a bed tan
