Default Sunless & Swimming

How long should one wait to go swimming after a Sunless tan?
Does chlorine have any adverse effects on color?

Here you go John....from my salon website. There are lots more questions and answers on there.

Can I go swimming or work out after my MagicTan Session?
NO, You should not swim or do any excessive exercises that will cause heavy perspiration until after your first shower after having the MagicTan session which is at least 6 hours after. Swimming in a chlorinated pool at any time can cause bleaching and drying of the skin. Make sure you moisturize immediately after swimming thoroughly.

Once again Din to the rescue!

You're my hero.

Has anyone had complaints of swimming the next day & getting spotty?

NO Swimming pools or Jacuzzi's that are chlorinated. Saltwater pools/spa's are fine.

Cholorine is a bleach and will lighten or completely take the color away.

This is what you need to tell your clients...

Get water proof sunscreen, put it on thick and often.
This will act as a barrier between the water and your skin.
No guarantee it will work, cholorine is a bleach.
The ocean is a natural exfoliate
I have had mixed responses...some said it worked perfect...
some said faded a little..some said took off anyway.
So can't stress enough thick and often.

The skin cells in stratum corneum are held together with glue-like substances called Mucopolysaccharides or Glycosaminoglycans. Any water, whether it be chlorinated, salt water or pure Evian/Perrier will loosen the cells and make them "wobbly", much like when you soak a sticker on a jar in water. I have my clients apply a tan extender when they get back inside from swimming and have had their shower. There's no foolproof way since the skin will loosen no matter what, but that seems to help the most.
