^^Observe another tech for about a week. Then spray 7-10 Ginea Pigs and have them stop by the salon the next day for inspection.

Don't tell your first real client that they are your first. But- DO followup with a friendly phone call.

Thanks!

We have airbrush and we just got back from a tanning show.

After watching a guy spray 4 people with a HVLP in the time it takes to spray 1 person with airbrush, we'll be getting HVLP very soon.

Airbrush is sticky and takes too long and HVLP is dry and you can get dressed and walk out right away instead of waiting up to 1/2 hour to get dressed and worry about seatbelt, purse strings over the shoulder and other reasons that screw up airbrush tans.
Hope this helps

Sounds like you were given a sales pitch. Yes airbrush is slower. HVLP sprays 5" compared to 1". Takes 5 minutes to 20 minutes (approx.)But too sticky or too long to dry..not true. That's usually the solution you are using or if you apply too heavy.

I think we need to take a poll: HVLP or Airbrush? Not sure how to do that but maybe someone can. :0)

It was a sales pitch, yes, in front of 300+ people. The tech sprayed 4 girls full body in less time than it takes me to spray one.

I found with our airbrush, the customer is not happy unless i use the darkest solution and spray it on thick, so its sticky until it dries. They want instant results not having to wait 4-6 hours to watch it develop.
Once dry it has a feeling of silk. I like the solution, just not the sticky or the application time.
I tried dryer sprays for my airbrush but had more complaints, (didnt like the cosmetic color) so I'll be trying HVLP in the future.
We charge 40$ for airbrush and would go down to about $25 if it took less time to apply. We don't have employees so we both have to be here when doing spray tans, so time is the key for us.

I just purchased the AG Laser spray and I am very happy with it. Takes me about 10 min to spray someone and they are dry in 3 min. I am sure that when I get the hang of it, I will be able to spray someone in 5 min.

Have you tried DHA drops? We do body builders and they are dark for sure but never so wet and sticky.Again airbrush is way slower but should never have the issues you are having.
