Cool Solution not spraying

I am having trouble with my spray booth.

I've narrowed it down to the solenoid (just now learned what that was). The suction is working but the solution is not getting to the nozzles to spray.

How can I know for sure if the solenoid is working?

The solenoid may be stuck- you could try to tap it loose.

It could also be stuck because it's gunked up and needs hot water flushed through the lines.

I cleaned the lines and they are free and clear.

I'm just not understanding how this solenoid thing works. It's a black thing with a hold in the middle with red and green wires coming from it and it has a metal thing that goes in the middle of it and all that is attached to a plastic pipe that has two holes on the sides. How does it get the solution flowing from it?

A solenoid opens and closes to control the flow of liquid. Kind of like the plug for a kitchen sink; plunger; etc.

If it's not opening you will not get solution. Someone once told me to tap the solenoid and see if it would open and work. That did not work so we replaced ours.

When you cleaned the lines did the defective solenoid spray the water?

a solenoid is an electro magnet and a spring. apply current and the magnet which is attatched to the plunger or plug moves. stop the electricity and the spring pushed the plunger back closing the line.

i thought the solenoid was just for the rinse clcle going to the top on the unit? to rinse down the inside? is this a mystic blue box? i remember having to tap mine when i had a drip that would'nt stop inside from the brass spiral do dad...

My spray booth is not a Mystic. The solenoid is definitely for the solution to spray into the booth because there are two hoses, one that runs from the cup of solution to the solenoid then another one comes out the other side and goes to the arm that sprays the solution.

I put the solenoid back on the machine and ran a cycle and the solenoid was warm, so that made me think it is getting electricity to it. I guess the inside of it isn't working. There was no solution (actually I used water) in either of the hoses after I ran a cycle.

I looked online to purchase another solenoid and finding exactly what I have is going to be almost impossible. It says it's a 12 volt, 3/16 orifice. Where does everyone get theirs from?

your best bet would be the manufacturer. is there a part number of manufacture name on the valve? without knowing more about the machine it's hard to say. try google search for "solenoid valve"

Is this a guessing game ?

What booth make, model, year, etc is it.

The more specific you are, the better advice you may get.

Looks like KoolTanz has an ITS (not ETS) spray booth. I'm not at all familiar with it maybe a few others here are.
