Cool Re: PC Crashed

So is this a new Dell or is this the old PC? Look in Start/Control Panel/System/hardware/Device Manager and delete anythin that is colored yellow or red these devices have problems and when you reboot they will be reloaded.

Boot your PC and check again if the drivers have problems then manually reload them.

1. you've installed your intellitan timer to the computer when it was turned OFF , unlplug timer, turn your computer on and plug it back in once it's loaded so it can detect it and install it.

2. i know Helios has to detect the timer through the program internally....(detect timer com port). Is it the same way with the program you are using?

yes, suntouch checks for the timer during startup. assuming its plugged in correctly, just restart the computer. Then open suntouch. if you get an error, its not communicating correctly with the timer/manager. If it loads, with no errors, to the main screen of suntouch, then check to see if the beds are working using suntouch. if it doesnt, go to setup, then go to "stations". I dont have suntouch anymore, so i'm a little hazy on this, but you'll see 2 tabs on the top of the screen. go to the second tab (timer setup i think). on the bottom right, there should be a button to view all beds. check and make sure that the port number is correct with the room number for each bed. if it is correct, then check and make sure that your timer/manager is correctly selected up on the top of the screen. if that is correct, go to "advanced"... then click "default" . Now you'll have to close down and restart suntouch again. If the problem still remains, go BACK to the same screen you were just at (with the default button) and click the "quick test" button. (Make sure no one is tanning when this is done because it will reset all beds....and i THINK it puts 5 minutes on each bed during the test.). Once this is done, it will give you new timer values, so you will click save....exit out of suntouch again....and try again. Now, if this doesnt work, go back to the same screen again and click the "Extensive Test" button. Click save again, restart suntouch..... Finally, if this still does not work, call suntouch. If they can't help....the only logical step would be to get a new pc and transfer your database.....unless of course your manager is bad......

Good luck and keep us posted on your results so we can continue to help you.

I don't know how but my system is up and running again (oh yeah baby!!!!). I want to sincerely thank you guys for the advice. I tried the suggestion from Saturn boy first then from DIN I turned my computer off and unplugged the timer. Once I turned the computer back on I plugged the timer back in and it worked. One other thing I did was uninstalled the com ports. I am so excited!!!!! I have been working on this issue for over 2 weeks. Thanks again, you guys are awesome!!!!

never install a plug and play device when the computer is off or it won't detect it.

The only thing you would install when computer is off would be hardware internally.

Any plug in device externally would need the computer to be turned on and windows running (logged in) so it can be detected.

Same goes for Dongles for your Salon software. Don't plug them in when computer is off or it won't detect it.

Also, don't format, install windows with any plug and play devices plugged in also......

If you are formatting and installing windows or Helios and stuff like that....don't have the dongle plugged in. Install Helios first then when it's complete...plug in the dongle so it may detect it and unlock the program to use.
