Default Out-dated Facial Lamp Sale

Ok, What Do You Think Of A Sale On Facial Lamps, That Are Dated 2004? But, Not Expressed When Purchased?
Fair? Bad Business Practice?

What brand?
Who sold them to you?

I wouldn't be happy buying 5-year old lamps without knowing about it. However, maybe the fact that they are old doesn't affect their output of life. Hopefully, one of the lamps disty's can give an honest answer.

It makes no difference as they have an infinite shelf life.

^^^^ Makes no difference. Only a few Manufactures actually put the dates on the lamps. Most use production codes which unless you have a cheat sheet are hard to figure out.

Not only am I running 9 year young 100watt VLRs that work perfectly (actually one blew out immediately but that could have been me banging them from one side of the salon to the other) I've run 160watt 9k90s with 400hrs on them 4 years after they were in storage and they kicked ass for another 400hrs (close canopy 12min hot box...the people love it)

Some lamps I am betting one can not get "fresh" anyway. Such as some unique HP lamps that go into a limited number of applications. They do a big run and then may not make them for another year. Know this, not all lamps are produced all the time. Lamp makers may "re-tool" to do a certain lamp for a couple weeks, then switch the lines for other types.

It age was an issue, they could not do this. I have some 1000 watt lamps in a box and I know they are about 5 years old but never thought twice about how they would perform, I know they will be fine.

Almost everything that goes into a lamp is in it's most basic form. I don't think phosphor, quartz, mercury, glass can break down any further without reason (electricity)

point is...would'nt you be upset if you ordered some "new" facial lamps...on sale...only to find out they are dated 2004? would you pay the same price for 2009 lamps versus 2004? i just think its a rip, having a "sale" only to find out, they are "dated". if "dated" i think it should be known, before buying is all. would'nt you think the sale should of been stated? i understand they are still fine...maybe even better than 2009's point being, when selling "dated" materials, it should be stated.

No, I would not be upset. To me new means not used. I buy new car parts that are many years old. They are often called "NOS" or New Old Stock. Point is - they are new.

Would you complain if you bought a "new" Chevy Impala and found it was made 11 months ago?

It means nothing, it's a manufacture date, it is unused, still new. It is not a carton of milk.

Jim don't sweat it. You are thinking of it backwards. You got brand new lamps on sale so what is the issue?

I would be very happy to have brand new lamps at a very discounted price. Manufacturing date means quack, as long as they haven't been installed and used. Don't sweat it dude/.

when a company (URI) has a sale...they should state that such sale is of "dated" "old" surplus. i would'nt of bought, had i known they are "dated" these lamps have been sitting since 2004. they should of been sold as dated and really "clearanced" i tried these lamps as i wanted to see how they stacked up against radiums...keep in mind, the sale price was just $10 less than what robertk charges me (for new). so, it was'nt about the price as much as trying something different. my point is, i feel ripped off, as i thought i was buying "new" not 5 years old. point also is...if you're selling "dated" lamps, i think one should express that fact! it appears to be more of a clearance of old dated stock...not just a "sale" as the flyer expressed.
so what, from now on, when i order anything...i have to ask "how old are these?" i never have gotten "old" from robertk. when i get his lamps, they are new 2009!!!
please don't tell me you'd pay the same price for 2004 lamps as compared to 2009 manufactured. and again, its the point of not expressing in the flyer...that they are dated lamps "on sale" one expects "sale" to mean of "new" product....period.
hey, i know they will work as good as new...maybe even better...but again, i was sold dated lamps...being sold as new. dated lamps should be "really discounted" not on sale as new.

There is no date on the lamps, just a code. The box had a date on it.
The lamps in question are for an Omega bed which hasn't been made in 7-8 years. Most HP lamps are made in bulk and then boxed. Just because a box says 2009 on it, that doesn't mean it was made in 2009.

The lamps are new, they are not used. If we took the lamps out of the box or reboxed them like other HP lamp guys do, you would have never known what the date was.

Lamps only go bad by using them or breaking them.

I doubt that any manufacturer is making fresh 2000W 380V lamps.

I see your point, but as I have learned early and often running a tanning business or any business you learn something new every day, next time always ask all relevent questions before buying.
luckily they work, have you metered them, how do they stack up.

It is crazy to get upset about a date that makes no difference to you. You also got them $10 cheaper that what Robert sells that is comparable. Have you installed them and metered them yet? If they meter well will you still complain about the date?
