I usually recommend about a 3.2%-3.5% Reflector lamps such as:
Heraeus Magic Sun 20/100R, LSI Signature Series Plus, Cosmolux VLR TT or the Philips Swift R if you can still find them.
it was the BodyScan XR 100W

^^^^^ probably has some in backwards!!
Are you sure every other one isn't facing the wrong way? That would really cause stripes.

If not... then 7.5% UVB is just too much for how close they are to the body. For VHR®/VHO a 3-4% B is much more typical. The 7-8-9% B are for 100W base beds.

100W putting out 17mW/cm² total UV x 7.5% = 1.27 mW/cm² amount of UVB.

160W putting out 38mW/cm² total UV x 7.5% = 2.85 mW/cm² amount of UVB!.

160W putting out 38mW/cm² total UV x 3.4% = 1.29 mW/cm² amount of UVB. THAT would not stripe people and would still perform well.

Methinks you overdid the UVB with an uncompatible lamp choice.

Oops... sorry. My bad. I didn't read post # 19 & 21 carefully.

So - the 7.5% is more typical of 100W systems. Thus (hence™) if the bed was designed for "R" tubes (close together) and they are not mixed up backwards... I have no idea whay they are striping so bad.

Any NEW lamps should be cut back a bit until they age past ~100 hours.... but unless they are totally uncompatible with OEM tubes then the mystery continues........

Steve, what would a HiTan be considered?

Hitans are a NIGHTMARE in terms of grill'n a fool and I have a feeling these maybe even more Hi than the HiTans.

I wish I had a couple to test. Maybe Don Smith (your good buddy) does. Email him at reyksmith@aol.com if ya want.

Anything named HiTan, Panther, Crispy, Burn-Baby-Burn, etc makes me leery.

ok.. so after what seems like a million calls Four Seasons are going to replace the lamps with reflectors. I hope this takes care of the stripes down our customers backs!
Thanks to all that helped me out with this mess!

The Radiance 8000 is similar to the Nevada Sun 7.5 by LSI.
The Radiance 9000 is similar to the Equator Sun 8.5 by LSI.

I would not recommend either of these in the Sonnenbraune 3500.

I've never heard of non-R's in an R bed causing stripes. Always been the opposite: R's in a non-R bed.

Anyway... good luck with the new batch.
